I think this is the key to any form of breeding program. As Flypen wrote, there are resources to show you how to go about setting up the matings, but the key is which individuals to use. This is where having multiple birds to choose from and test matings as Centra wrote. This involves a lot of time and pens to perform test matings and keep the offspring and parents long enough to see if the mating is valuable. Not an easy task.Still not answered, how to you pick who is carried forward to breed.
I think many take such things for granted and will breed birds just because of a specific heritage. IMO, it is not just about maintaining a name, but the quality associated with that linage. Breeding in not for everyone.Ok I'm getting it now. What you're saying centra is all assumed I didn't think that kind of stuff had to be explained. As I've said before from brooder to above ground pens to dome pens to their new homes most don't make it through Each stage. Then again I don't have but a few now
