I use hornady hand loads on all my rifles can't really go wrong with hornady. With factory ammo on my 270ruger I could get roughly 1inch groups at 100 once I went to hand loads it'll cut the same hole bout the size of a quarter. Well it did till I put this vortex on it and haven't sighted it back in yet which I need to do real soon!
This 6.5 is a tack driver, 3 shot groups less than dime size. I load for several buddies plus all my stuff. My next one will be a magnum in 30 caliber, just don't know which one yet. Two choices so far 30 Nosler, 300 Norma OR maybe a bigger 6.5 idk I just got that itch for something I don't have. I've tested every 6.5mm bullet on the market and SST performed as well or better than all them. Have you tested the ELD X yet?

I’m sure they’ll work for one shot. Probably wouldn’t be able to reuse them but for $5 no big deal. My worry is always like that deer I hit bad a few weeks ago. Sh*tty heads and I may not have recovered her.
I have been using the longbow instead of the compound and it’s not really powerful enough to use mechanical heads and have them perform like they’re supposed to. Hence the big ass heavy spears I got.
One of these days you need to really look at the Rage, they deploy from the rear not like all the other want to be mechanical heads AND with less effort. You take one of your heads, shoot it in your target then take the hypodermic head and do the same. Then see for yourself which one has the most penetration. I just remembered your shooting a 150 head but I bet it'll compare to yours with a 100gr.

I have not, I use their 150gr lead interlock hunting bullets nothing fancy my rifle likes 54.5gn powder load.

I've been itching to get a 300UM for awhile, but due to my arthritis idk if that's a grand idea. Heck hope I stay steady today hands feel a bit stiff anyhow.

Heck since I've added weight throughout the gun I haven't shot it. Folks on the ruger forum told me you couldn't get these recoil pads off these americans well I determined that was a lie so I added some weight to the rear as well. I've taken this stock about as far as I can without a cheek riser and if it does what I hope I have no need to switch. I would still like a timney trigger even though I've modified mine down to 2lbs with very little creep its nice and crisp, I still have plans to get the bolt done as well. The biggest factor in all these thinner barreld guns is heat but for a hunting rifle if I need more than one I ain't getting a second chance 99% of the time. I can usually get 3 down range before I have any flyers.
