My father had the Allen's, they were mean as a snake. I remember when I was a kid and he'd tell me to do something with any of them I'd take off in the house and come back with a coat on so they couldn't eat a hole in my arm.

Mine were light red, white tail streamers and white in wings (easy to handle)

I remember them having some white feathers and streamers, yellow legs, and a medium red color. Me being a kid and wanting to do more playing than work, I remember his Lacys were very gentle and some of them would fly up on my arm or shoulder when I was cleaning pens or feeding.

Whatever happened to that line?
Sometimes when you are young, you think you know everything about breeding gamefowl because you grew up around them but to be honest I didn't realize why you line breed - in breed. In just a few years I had lost the original cock and several needed hens to a dog. I in-bred the ones I had left so many times they went to junk. I know all I had to do was ask, I had so many famous men that I saw all the time at the pits and they were always asking me if everything was going good. Now that I'm the older one I enjoy helping my nephews, I was young and dumb. If I could go back knowing what I know now, wow it would be incredible. All the old timers back then were Awesome, they would help you with anything you needed.

I am shocked at how little the people on Facebook and at the shows know about breeding their birds. Classes in Animal Husbandry are needed)
I can tell you exactly how the first roosters we showed in late 50's and early 60's were bred (1/2 Griffin 1/4 Allen RH 1//4 unknown) they could take the butter off your toast and you never know they were there....... we were spoiled by having so many country walks and most roosters we met were coming out of roundpens. We showed one of them 3 times in one day untouched and sold him to a guy that fought on major circuit on went on to show him 8 more times and put him on yard to raise out of him and a dog killed him.
