Good morning lmljsl, have an idea if how breedings will go this year yet? It's closing in
I think I am close to having things set. The females are all separated. I put a little blue stag with a blue pullet of yours last night. I am liking this blue pullet. She has jumped every bird I have put in with her and she looks like she is double spurred. Her and the stag had a little tussle, but quickly resolved it and enjoyed some scratch. It looks like I am already overloaded with experimental crosses. I picked up a miniature grey, a miniature grey that looks like a grey pumpkin, and a miniature spangled oriental. It will be like skittles with a rainbow of colors!

Sounds like it's coming together nicely. I have 4 hens single penned but 3 are broodies 1 will be bred later. When I crossed blue and grey about 1/2 came out what I could say is pumpkin colored. The chest and tail was an orange/pumpkin color

I am looking forward to the blue greys! I single mate too. It is easier for me to know where things come from that way.

Blue pairs been together for years I keep it simple lol. I have the bare minimum right now projecting to re-up my broodstock starting this year. If I get two pair of each blue, roundhead, and kelso I'll be good I may keep a pair of hatch too that'll be it. 25 head by fall sounds good to me.

Sounds like a plan! Do you keep the blue pairs together all the time? I suppose if you separate them they may not go back together again.

Yeah they stay paired up all the time. I'm sure if I separated them they'd go back fine the cocks are old. When they set I pull the chicks once they're dry. I've left them in before to see what happens and about day 3or4 I could tell the cocks were getting testy

Y'all like them spurred hens?
