Anyone have any idea why he losing his feathers? I got him with thin feathers on neck... but they havent been replaced... even though he is getting good feed.

Im thinking asil might need higher protein diet?

Could be, going thru molt, sometimes a change in location, condition, and food. Not high protein soybean meal, just good quality feed.

Wild songbirds can bring lice and mites. I have seen northern fowl mites and lice. In winter them little birds are everywhere. They get in the pens with the birds. I’ve seen on a few occasions where a cock is on his roost and right next to him is a sparrow.
A couple years ago I posted a pic of a rooster and next to him was a parakeet! Not sure who owned him but he only stuck around for about two days.

A bird gets in pen with my birds, is a dead bird. Hens are even vicious as cock if not more toward birds.

Question for the geneticists ( the real ones not the ones that play one at school) why do different breeds of bb red games have different color chicks. I'd imagine if they all bb red all their chicks would look the same. Like some hatch are dark some are light and these are yellow like sweaters[/

@ At the risk of being exposed, imitating a geneticist and ignorance thereof. I did not even play one at school and probably telling you something you already know.

#1- Some are wheaten(chicks are yellow to almost white)hens are usually a lighter color to different degrees.
#2- Some are Cinnamon (chicks a dark chipmunk cinnamon color) hens are dark cinnamon.
Crosses of the above will produce some of both and generally mess up the pattern. Which in gamefowl, is not a second thought.

I've seen different lines of Hatch come both ways(most Hatch I've had were dark cinnamon in chicks and hens).
Also, Clarets come both ways (most clarets i've had were very light, but Madigan's originally come both ways// hens light & dark ). Whitehackles usually come lighter and lacy also to a degree.
That's bout all i've seen
