I think the feathering is the reason I don’t like oriental birds. They barely have any.
Same here and hennie on top of that. They are slow feathering for sure. It was funny to see half naked orientals chicks in the same clutch as fully feathered american chicks. He is about 13-14 weeks or so.

I like the lemon hackle on that guy!
Thanks man, I'm hoping the majority of all the stags come real lemon hackled, exept the greys ofcourse. Nothing looks better on a bird than a heavy hackle that's bright in my opinion.

Yes, they sure are showy. I have some young blue stags that are coming really light lemon this year. Can't wait to see them finish out.

That's the best part, watching them grow and develop. They have their ups and downs but with good keepers they'll turn out great.
I like the blues that get that lemon to straight white on their hackle.

Anyone heard of using butter milk as part of diet to stimulate older hens to lay? I have a 5 and a 6 year old that quit about a month ago. Weight good and comb color intense. Beak and leg color suggestive of being in lay.

What I wouldn’t do for a sunny day. Got a couple more inches of rain today. I’m not sure what the rain total has been for the week but at least a few inches every day.

I’ve read it somewhere before but I’ve never tried it. Like everything else as long as they’re healthy and you’ve done everything you can for them it’s up to them. I have some 8-9 yr old hens running around. They lay an egg randomly and not that often.
