We have that action here too. Too much of it. I do not know who causes the most yard work, moles or dogs catching moles.
When mixing chicken rations we would up the fat content, which tastes "good" to increase feed consumption. Buttermilk would certainly do that.Looks like the mode of action for the butter milk is as a flavor enhancer stimulating intake. The brand of pellets I use are not the most palatable for chickens with discerning tastes.
