We all know JShubin is NOT going to kill a chicken and eat it. It's Not going to happen! He might not be able to pluck the feathers off of a dead chicken either.
 
@sdm111 I did it!
Dry run...no water added until the last minute...low humidity hatch at only 45%.

Many thought I was doomed.

A lot of that depends on the humidity wherever your incubator is. I’ve done it a few times with varying results. I’ve always had better hatches keeping the incubator at an average of 40%. I fill it up to around 50-60 then let it drop to 20 or below then keep running it back up to about 50 or so til the last few days.
 
I know I can raise chickens... (kind of). I just wont get attached to them, and someone else can butcher... even if I have to pay someone.

If SHTF I would put my big boy pants on and handle butchering.
I have killed a few sick/injured chickens in the past.
