There’s better options than tarps because of the wind. I’m not telling you what to do. I’m saying putting a bird in a pen with no roof isn’t providing adequate shelter from the weather. You can’t argue that fact.

I can't imagine not providing shade for the birds in this Texas heat. Poor birds, just a couple more months and then the good weather kicks in. Soaked oaks to keep the birds hydrated is about the only trick I have up my sleeve.

What do y'all like to do for the birds during heat waves?

I try too put them in a place with shade an light also try to give fresh cold spring water 3-4 times a day. It may be over kill but I do it anyway. My white birds drink a tad more than my blacks all my birds are active from 6-8:30 pecking, scratching, pacing, jumping etc usually when they go on roost it's around 8:30ish. I feed once a day around 3-4pm once birds start kicking the cage and even then the birds tend to peck a little but the majority of the feed is ate once it cools down around 6-7 all my birds are different so they all get different amounts of feed but free choice on water. I also get my two brood males out on a cord 4-5 times a week in decent shaded areas if weather allows.

Yeah I just feed and water mine every day. Keep em out of direct sun and the driving rain.
