A heat index above 105 gets a little rough on the birds. The best thing is shade and water. If you know it is going to be an issue, you can pull feed away from the birds until later in the evening. A little hunger is better than heat stress or dead birds.
When it’s real hot I only feed them 1/4 of their normal feed and then in the evening. During summer I mix in vitamins and electrolytes but only a tiny bit because they won’t drink it otherwise. From my experience when the heat index is high there’s rarely even a breeze. Shade and fresh clean water seems to work just fine.

yeah shade and water.. but the water gets warm fast too at those temps. And they were probably drinking warm water, not cooling themselves properly.. Tends to be the heavy birds that die from it.

I’m 10 years older than you and I bet you couldn’t keep up with me if
I had one leg. I bet you couldn’t walk from one end of a soccer field to the other with out being winded softie.
Idk about all that, just because I'm a little heavy set doesn't mean I'm not chasing chickens around for most of the day!

Notice my birds wait to eat most of feed on hot days after 6ish (very active birds to say the least) and I feed around 3-4pm once a day each birds gets different amounts of feed I use a vienna sausage can to do so an over weight less active bird is no good. Birds are also waterd with cold fresh water a few times a day birds with plenty of shade to boot. I'll use water supplements here and there when I see fit.

Doesn't get real hot here think we've seen 93 and pretty good humidity but I just use common sense watch my birds a crazy amount and keep at it everyday.
