Are you respraying them in 5-7 days?
Yes, which is why I was looking for something with a longer activity period, so that I don't have to reapply... I haven't treated the birds in years, but I just noticed an infestation yesterday. I blame it on the wrens this year! For some reason they have really been trying to build nests inside the chicken pens.

It's not so much about it not being active long...you have to respray to get the newly hatched lice before they make it to egg laying stage and start all over again. I'm not sure that anything works to kill the eggs.

Also...I'm wondering if you have a premixed ready to use spray or if you mixed it yourself...pay close attention to the directions to make sure you are using enough. Too weak of a solution doesn't do squat.

Make sure to treat the coops/cages too. Lice can live off the birds for a good long time.

I have used ivermectin with no ill effects that I’ve seen. I use frontline spray now.
This is a better deal...lol A little more up front cost but far more active ingredient!

I use premixed. The longer activity applications like Frontline will kill subsequent generations hatching out.

Frontline is far better than any of the other sprays I’ve seen or used. Then again ivermectin works too.
If it’s for sale it’s gotta be safe! Lol
I have malathion too but you have to really, really dilute that stuff.
