Anyone know what this is?

@lmljsl
You ain’t the only one that’s lost birds. I lost 7 birds in 1-2 nights. Cant completely guarantee I didn’t lose two of them on Monday night, I know for a fact I lost 5 in one night. Just feathers, birds gone so it’s either a fox or coyote.
With fox its always one or two a night never once has it been more than 2 and 90% of the time it was 1 bird missing each time.
I’m thinking coyotes. Looks like they came through grabbed a bunch of birds and moved on. Very frustrating because the laws here I cannot use regular foothold traps.
Looks like they came through between 6:45 - 9:00 am Tuesday morning.
I’ve heard coyotes around but only a few times but a bit more frequent. A few guys I’ve talked to have seen plenty around. Supposedly saw a whole pack of em chasing a fawn.

How else are you supposed to trap them then? Hog trap?

I think foxes I have messed with could be trapped using an actual cock pen baited with a live young bird. It might work better is chicken carcass parts are put out for a couple to a few days so the fox really gets settled into regimen before you use live bird and arm trap.

I’m not convinced this is a fox. I’m leaning more toward coyotes. Foxes slip up just a little bit. Coyotes are flat out humbling. Where occasionally you’ll catch s glimpse of a fox or even the eyes at night. Coyotes will rarely show themselves outside of cover.
