That’s the hard part about free ranging birds. You don’t always see every bird while your out there.
That’s how a fox can clean up. Unless they get a conspicuous bird from the get go usually they’ve got 3-4 before you even realize they’re gone.
 
I have so birds roost on poles in streat line for easy rapid counting. Distinctive markings still important. It takes me 30 minutes every evening to pat everyone down so does involve effort. Add even more time to that as putting leg bands on too.
 
I’ve scouted the woods and found nothing but a couple old turkey feathers, 1 hawk feather and my peacocks feathers from molting below where he sleeps on a fallen red oak.
I’ve determined that my chickens were abducted by space aliens.
Have no fear trumps space force is on the case!
 
Seriously nothing but a woodchuck den and deer tracks. Not one chicken feather or any sign of fox, coyote scat, hair or tracks.
