I have visited with some fellows in the past that are the of the sort that breed all birds on site and were all stags ultimately get penned. They had more birds than they had resources to properly house or feed. Many of their birds came from someone else and in my opinion they should have been culled rather than traded. Additionally, the same birds where prone to bone breakage. Feathers were consistently in poor condition, regardless of time of year. I have seen a couple like that in Missouri but most I recall where in along the Ohio River. Havoc, I am pretty sure such does not happen your way.

I have no pictures of such as about 20 years prior to advent of digital cameras. That makes me feel a bit old.

I have seen quite a few places that i wasn’t really happy with. Really it’s none of my business though what other people do. The best part is the people in question don’t see any issues. People like that can’t be helped imo.

It was folks like that which had me in the not too distant past not having respect for those not employing walks and having the fancy flypens and movable coops we used to run. In many ways I am now like the folks without the resources but I do have better feeds.

I think they can be kept just fine in pens with rotation out on cords or even loose for awhile with supervision. Keeping birds penned though without hammering birds with medicine to keep them healthy and not too heavy can be a challenge though.
Honestly it’s probably more work than it’s worth but I like them so it works for me.

Yeah.. I agree. They will never see the problems normal people see.
