Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Just wanted to show off my young Dellies, these are from Rebel Roosters eggs, they are 1 month old now, 1 rooster & 2 hens, I think.

Great idea, Pink! Should make some nice sized birds for your freezer! Good luck.

Yeah sounds like a good broiler cross with the early maturity of the Dels and the hybrid vigor from cross-breeding they should growout fairly fast and will also be sexable at hatch too, you could start the males off on a higher protien % feed ration right from the get-go if so desired, beings your going to process them at an early age. So-far most of my half-breed Delaware crosses have grownout good sized even if from some of my smaller hens the roos still growout much bigger than any other crosses I've had. (with what I have here on hand that is, I might add)

Very cute!

Nice to see the interest in them hasn't completely fizzled out. I am really hoping the BBS will get more people to dabble in the breed. Here I am writing as if someone will actually read it.

I don't understand what you are saying, "I am really hoping the BBS will get more people to dabble in the breed." Delawares don't come in Blue, Black, and Splash.

I've been working on BBS-tailed Delawares. You still get some with the standard black-tailed in the mix.

Orpingtons didn't come in lavender either.....

This just made me think about my project. In the F2s (anytime now, I hope) I am expecting to get:
Barred; Black; Delaware; Split gold/silver males; Buff Columbian; Barred Buff Columbian & Silver Columbian (the last will be pullets) in the ratios 18:6:3:2:1:1:1 I think the Buff Columbian and Barred Buff Columbian might look pretty cool. I wonder what it would take to get them to breed true. Hmmmm, thinking of yet another fun project.
