Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

I have a question that a friend wanted me to ask. I also posted this in the SDWD forum as well.

She "doesn't do" computers, but is currently raising a flock of about 45 Delawares. She's aware that this is a rare and endangered species and would like to get her birds pedigree certified and become a certified breeder. Anyone know who she should contact to do that? I gave her the contact information for the American Poultry Association and the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy, anywhere else? Is there somewhere else on this board I should post this question? Thanks all!! :)

Chickens don't have pedigrees. Delawares used to be listed as "critical," on the "ALBC Conservation Priority Heritage Chicken Breeds," list. However, they have changed it now to, " threatened." You can see the list here.

It would be great if your friend joined the Delaware poultry club. They also have a breeders list.

Wonderful!! I will give her this contact information. I appreciate it very much. I know she's really looking forward to having a full fledged hertiage breeding program and keeping the delawares going. It's because of her that I ordered 2 of the 4 that I'm getting in March!

One of my new chicks is a Delaware! She's soooo cute. When they still have chick fluff they are yellow like one of those chicks that you think of. Yellow and fluffy!

I thinik it is because of the change over too.

I currently have 10 Delaware eggs that just went into lock down too. [along with 23 Icelandics]
