Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Wow! Severus is beautiful... err, I mean HANDSOME! And of course, so is Thor

Cannonball and Fattie are wonderful looking girls, and so is Athena. Man, they look pretty big, how old are they? I love Thors color.

Legs is so big (my Delaware cockerel). I thought he was smaller than Bologna and Rocky, but I was looking at them in their new-ish rooster digs. Man. He is much bigger than them. I think we need to have a picture day, where (when possible) we all go out and take some pictures and show them. After all, this thread is about showing 'em off!!

They will be 17 weeks old on Monday. They hatched from the 6th - 8th of September. Severus & Sirius hatched on the 6th Thor, Fattie, Penelope and with my help, Cannonball on the 7th and Draco & Athena on the 8th (with my help)...I almost lost Cannonball and Athena and now am thankful for my interference in helping them.

Thor has huge long legs he is gonna be a big ole boy like his Daddy (

Cetawin, I love your pictures! Your daughter is a beautiful young lady. My DH was just looking over my shoulder, and said, "Now, isn't that a pretty little girl!" (Note: our 19 year old is still, "a little girl!")

My chickens are not happy with this winter weather. We have only been here, in SW Missouri, for 3 years. We moved 300 miles south, to avoid crappy winter weather, and this is the first time we have had this much snow. The road crews here really don't have the equipment and things like they do in Iowa (where they get tons of snow!), so it seems they just close everything. Schools and things are already cancelled for tomorrow. I mean really, there isn't even a foot of snow.

Well tell your DH thank you and that I completely understand as my son is still "my baby" and he is 25 and a father himself.

Are you around Joplin or am I thinking wrong side of the state?

The Dellies, Thor, Athena and all stayed out all day yesterday! They were so happy, and I think I made it back into their good graces because Cannonball launched herself on me when I opened the door, Fattie bit me and Thor "bruuuuuuurrrrrrr" at me and came over for a chest rub. I am again a good chicken mom

As long as I do not tell them the forecast calls for freezing rain for the next 4 days.

Yes, I am 45 mi north of Joplin, and 90 mi south of Kansas City. It is right on your way ..... You know you are all very welcome here! I can even kick the boys (2 adult sons) out of the guest house, and you can stay there!

Freezing rain? Yuk, I hate that worse than the snow! Ice scares me. We have ice on top of some of the snow here, where it started to melt and then refroze. It is a slick mess. Today I couldn't even get any of them to come outside. The doors are open, so they can decide!

I do the same thing....I leave their pop door open and let them decide...most of them look out the door, turn their heads around and say "nope, going back inside" and then inside they go. lol Thank you for the offer...before we head out I will get your number....as of now we are planning on a direct drive but you just never know.

Most of you have heard/read about my crazy talking puppy who tries to talk to Cyn through the phone....well I put up some pics of the goofball

I also took a ride to the feed store store yesterday and took a pic of why my babies had not been outside in a week...this picture is looking back at the ridge I live behind...and this was yesterday when it was nice enough out for the babies to go out! That is the best it has looked in over a week.

It is so cold here, it's as if I didn't even live in North Carolina. I feel like I never left Boston. Our Heat has been working on half power, or 1/4 power for days now. It won't be fully fixed until Tuesday. The room the incubator is in is currently 56*, but the Hovabator is holding it's own.

I only open it to add water if the humidity drops into the 20's. I've got blankets wrapped around it everywhere that isn't blocking an air vent. Temp has been steady 99.3-100.4. I won't candle until our heat is fixed as I don't want to open it long enough for the temp to drop at all. I'm not trusting it to have to recover the heat in such cold temps. My bedroom is the only semi-warm room in the house in the mid 60's. My daughter has defected across the driveway to her grandparents house.

Defected did she? Figures, you give birth to them, love them, feed them, listen to their whining and they dessert you the second the heat is not working! Talk to the Dellies....let them use their mind control.

Hang in there, stay warm and stay SAFE!

I am doing so. Just got the fire started. It's up a few tenths of a degree in here. I'm tempted to start baking just to get the ovens on. Darn it wish I could eat wheat. Anything I bake I'd be the only one eating because there is no wheat flour here in my house and no one else likes my wheat free goodies..well that's not true, it's just hit or miss with them. Some they love love love, some they can't stand.

Once my hands warm up enough I've got to fold a weeks worth of laundry. Dellies are too cold to come out of the coop. Maybe, just maybe I could just stare at my Dellie eggs for a few minutes and dream about what they will look like when they hatch??
