Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

That is a great idea too or I could send Casca but your heat will be fixed before he would arrive...he is a great warm fur buddy. Then again so is the real chicken guardian...he loves cuddling under blankies and he puts out some good body heat (he sleeps on my feet under the blankie every night). No one sits down without check under the blankie, sweatshirt, sweater or towel sitting on the couch because 99.9% chance he is in it. LOL

Baking sounds good and it will add heat to the house. hehehehe Do it!

Dellies are not stupid why be out if it is not nice right?

Oh Send Casca anyway!!! I'll keep him until your settled...then you can come get him if I can give him up...I mean of course I'll give him back.

Fur babies are always welcome at the Folly. We do have a policy of no permanent large dogs because of our health concerns now...and it breaks our hearts because we love the big ones, but they are always always welcome to visit. It's so funny because when we invite people and tell them to bring their dogs they are so surprised. They never bring them the first time and are shocked when we are so disappointed when they arrive without them. Then they see the giant basket of dog toys, the dog beds in every room etc and they realize it was a genuine invitation and the next time they really do bring the doggies.

There is only one kind of animal that isn't welcome in my house, and it isn't because I don't like them, only because I would end up in the ER after breathing in their dander...and that is a cat. My poor daughter has to go next door to visit with any cats.

So I'll settle for cuddling my chickens.

Here is a picture of my view right now though....

Did you notice how he fire seems almost dwarfed inside the huge fireplace? I told my husband I wanted a fireplace big enough to floo into....and he built me one. Only problem is you can't buy a grate big enough to fill it up. We're looking into having one made by someone out of work who can weld.

The fireplace is about 3 1/2 feet tall and the same wide.... huge huge huge.

Nice fireplace...dang I could sit in there!

I have the same problem with most cats. Especially long haired ones...one of those and I am done.

I have a GP Hamburg with a crooked toe. Its' never bothered her. I think she did it on one of her hap-hazard flights around the inside of the coop!

Crooked toes can either be genetic or from incubation issues, and of course, accidents. Have had more than one bird break a toe around here. Once I hatched one particular breed and several had crooked toes; only that breed and no other in the bator. I surmised that there was too much inbreeding in that flock.

Those chicks are pretty big for 8 weeks! I'm planning on getting a couple but I might have to wait until March to get them so it will be warm enough to put them out in May or the end of April.

Hope every one had a happy new year. I did, I was up till sun up with my family and bunch of rodeo friends.

and I have no eggs to put under her and I plan to hold off on ordering chicks. I have not made up my mind what to do yet. All my Dellie are well, Sweetheart is putting weight back on. I think they boys are going to be good roos, they are very watchful and the first out of the coop. Tank gives me the stink eye when I make the RIRs hens fuss, and man are they loud.

Laney - I hope things go good

BRRRR!! It's 14 degrees on the deck (south side of the house) and 5 degrees on the porch (north side of the house) Makes it sound like we have a really big house or something! But the Delbabies are snug at about 62 in the brooder. I wish we would break out of this cold snap, though, I get weird when I can't work in the garden or at least be outside for any length of time. I moved here to escape this kind of weather, too - I keep looking at my DH and saying "welcome to my childhood".

Ladybuggarden- You have some really nice babies- mine will be 8 weeks on Wednesday and some of them look about the size of yours. I have two absolute GIANTS, and two that are so much smaller they are at about 1/2 that size - I am starting to worry that I need to put the smaller ones in their own little place, they get tromped on all the time, and since one of them is the little girl with the leg problem, I think she may be getting hurt by the bigger ones.

Stay warm, everyone, it can't last forever!!! ( Oh, PLEASE let spring come soon!)
