Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Beautiful birds RustyWoman! And I believe everyone else has said it all. Mine are no where near perfect, still working on it gradually. I will be selling my boy, Oreo, here soon. He will not throw nice babies, I'm afraid, but he is beautiful.

Wow, they are all so pritty. I got picks of my chicks, but not uploaded. They are friendly, every time I open the brooder I get "hit" by chicks. I'm glad I got some, looks like I got bit by the Del bug. lol I'm going to keep an eye out for good stock.

OK I'm going to give a try to pictures again. Speckledhen, I took some more in better light. These aren't great, but much better detail.

The rooster is Biden, Hens are Emily and Helen. They are Hatchery. They were supposed to be 3 pullets, but I got lucky and got a trio. I originally wanted a trio, but because I only wanted three was buying from a local reseller and he only ordered pullets.

One of the Hens. Had to hold her to get any detail as they kept running under the goat play ramp.

I'm sorry I couldn't get better pictures of Biden but he wouldn't let us catch him tonight. The goats kept running interference.

Laney

The leg color is really good on them. The hens' hackles are very irregular, as is Biden's tail and hackles, but you never know what two birds will really produce till you hatch from them. Show quality birds can produce inferior chicks and vice versa (though you rarely get show quality from lower quality birds).

Beautiful birds, Laney. Like Speckled said, you never know til' ya hatch! Lol. I miss my young birds, but I found 4 eggs in the pullet pen yesterday, so they are getting there! They shouldve started laying by mid-september... sheesh, slackers. But, you know how it goes! I bought a Delaware hen last year that was 7 months old and she didnt even start laying an egg until about mid' April of this year!!

This is my motley crew. They are 2 and 1/2 weeks old and in the "ugly duckling" stage. They are not all fluffy anymore and not fully feathered. Most are from Speckledhen's flock, and 7 are from a breeder in PA. (I have them all banded so that we know what chicks are from what breeder.) They are also in the brooder with my hatchery chicks, so ignore the Rocks & EE's and just foccus on my cute baby Del's

Oh, notice all the food on the brooder floor? That was 5 minutes after I cleaned the brooder to take the pics

Awww I think they are way cute at that stage. I love to watch the different colors and amount of feathers each one is getting.
Then they get those litle pokey feathers on their butt. Precious.
