Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Is it just me or do Delawares really really like to spill their food and water? I think they are almost like Ducks!!!

None of the other breeds I've raised spilled their food and water the way my Dellies did. I spent so much time just trying to rig up ways to keep the feed from being tipped, or having them shove in the shavings so they absorbed the water.

Here's my new little cockerel with one of his gals. He's got a lot of maturing to do

But I think he favors his daddy:

Oops, didn't know who I was talking too. Sorry Seriousbill, I won't steal your Del's. Just sell some eggs to me!!! Yeah, I know in the Spring....

Delawaregirl thanks for starting this post. It is very inspiring and helpful. And your Dels are great! What a wonderful way to learn and share.

The combs on Delawares are really messed up for the most part. Almost all are too low, with too many points and very irregular looking. I think yours are the first I've seen where they are beginning to look a bit like they should. Nice birds!

Thanks, McSpin. I still have a ways to go, but this year I was able to cull for that trait, and I don't have any combs that are terrible any more. The little male doesn't have as good a comb as it looks in this picture; he has an extra point just like his sire. But, for the first time this year, I have some females with nearly perfect combs, so I have some hopes for next year.
