Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Not sure about these misbehaving girls of mine. They got into a habit that they can't seem to break and now, if I sell off any, or can't put him with them, I'll have to contact all the folks on my "mental list" for Del hatching eggs. Sheesh. I think I need to just have one big rooster-less laying flock. That would eliminate the only real issue I'm having, behavior-wise, in there. Poor, sweet Isaac.

You may be kidding here, but I'm thinking along those lines, Ladyhawk, my dear friend. Hurry over on this side of the country and get settled--this stuff is wearing me out. Isaac doesn't deserve to be treated so horribly by his women.

I noticed that Phoebe is also a bit on the thin side as well as Maxie. Neither are laying and this is around the time they do their mini-molt, or just after, but I rarely see alot of weight loss at that time. Puzzling, for sure. I think I'll worm them both tomorrow, just in case, but it's obvious that they are both losing feathers around the neck as well as weight. I think if they were okay, I'd see if one of the nice folks near me on this thread are wanting a couple of Delaware girls, but I want them in tip-top shape if they leave here. They seem okay otherwise. This darn cold weather is making everything worse. I may end up selling all of them except Ellie, Georgie and Gracie.

No kidding....DH is serious. We will come get him...just give us a couple weeks to get settled in. He will be loved and DH just walked by and said "Yes I will make a special trip and take Ike and his father, if available" LOL

Edited to add: I just put in an ad looking for rental property. We are running out of time for the purchase because DH says we leave here the end of March period. So, we are planning on being in NW Kentucky somewhere around the April 1st. April Fool's day...hmmmm okay April 2nd. hahahahaha

Cyn....what do you use to worm your girls? I see soooo many different opinions here on BYC?

And poor Issac.....dang those nasty women. He just needs to be "not so nice" and flog the *#$^ out of a couple of them and maybe they'd get the message. Poor guy, always in the infirmary

I just put a bunch of my BBS rock eggs in the 'bator if you want some rock "babies".....my girls from Halos breeding seem very well mannered (like most rocks)

Hope things get better

Scott...that is what Thor did...one Dellie girl grabbed his wattles and he screamed at her (sounded like a cross between a raptor and a t-rex) and he jumped up in the air and pancaked her to floor....screaming at her the whole time...she does not bother him now.

I wormed my girls with Ivermectin pour on...I accidentially wormed myself too (long painful story)

Well, I don't own Ike's father, the incredibly handsome George, LOL. Isaac was pretty good the whole time we were cleaning him up. When we were done, he turns and looks right into my face. When I passed him to DH to take outside while I got on my shoes, he alarmed loudly and kept looking at me for some reason. He's very good when I hold him. Anyway, he is ensconsed in the broody pen with straw, a coke crate nest on the floor to sleep in, some food and water. Zane's heatlamp is in the cage above Ike and the other one is on Suede's side right at his head level when he's standing up. (as soon as the temps aren't threatening to go into single digits, I'll turn those off, but these big combs on these boys are so vulnerable--Joann, I know why you want smaller combed breeds for your WI winter).

I use Invermectin or Eprinex or Safeguard, but I haven't wormed the entire flock very often, maybe once a year when I see roundworms all over the ground surface.

Scott, thanks for the offer of the chicks, but I'm going to incubate just one time this year (I hope), so I'll have plenty then. Will have some nice BRs and Ameraucanas, too. You can get some of those blue egg layers from me if you like.

I know...I told him after I got done with that post that Daddy was not at your humble abode. I am going to the feed store in a bit should I ship 50 lbs of food to you for Ike and Suede until I come get them?
