Well, I don't own Ike's father, the incredibly handsome George, LOL. Isaac was pretty good the whole time we were cleaning him up. When we were done, he turns and looks right into my face. When I passed him to DH to take outside while I got on my shoes, he alarmed loudly and kept looking at me for some reason. He's very good when I hold him. Anyway, he is ensconsed in the broody pen with straw, a coke crate nest on the floor to sleep in, some food and water. Zane's heatlamp is in the cage above Ike and the other one is on Suede's side right at his head level when he's standing up. (as soon as the temps aren't threatening to go into single digits, I'll turn those off, but these big combs on these boys are so vulnerable--Joann, I know why you want smaller combed breeds for your WI winter).
I use Invermectin or Eprinex or Safeguard, but I haven't wormed the entire flock very often, maybe once a year when I see roundworms all over the ground surface.
Scott, thanks for the offer of the chicks, but I'm going to incubate just one time this year (I hope), so I'll have plenty then. Will have some nice BRs and Ameraucanas, too. You can get some of those blue egg layers from me if you like.
