Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

I just use vegetable oil in a bowl with maybe three drops of tea tree oil and use a rag to oil the crevices and cracks around my roosts, plus rub a little on the surfaces, after sanding them smooth again-helps deter bugs. Rub it in good or they'll be slipping off! I do it in the a.m. so it has time to soak in before evening. You don't want much tea tree since it's very aromatic. And yes, if you put it on them, it can be harmful, but same thing when oiling their legs, a drop in some other oil is all I use. You dont want them ingesting it because that can be fatal.

The tea tree oil advice is very good as I do need something to put on the roosts - I can lime the floors, but I don't put straw over the roosts so I can't lime that!!! I'll pick up some tea tree oil when I'm in town to oil the roost with, just a couple of drops in a bowl of veg oil. The rest is for us. Got it. I'll do a hair treatment with it myself...LOL. Probably a couple of drops in with my conditioner.

It seems like I'm getting hit from all sides this week. Shannon came in to wake me up this morning to tell me one of our goats was in labor. As I brought the maternity kit out though, she found three still born babies in the barn. It looks like this happened because of a case of two true twins sharing the same sack. they were head to head in position and were probably difficult to deliver causing the death of the third baby. We'll never know really. The vet says it was in no way caused by the mites.

Thank goodness I have something to look forward to this week!!!!!!

On a Deli note, SawsAll is getting big!!! I'll have to take pics soon.

Thank you for the advice. Thankfully I have never had to treat my chickens. The mites were in our front yard, brougt in by the wild birds I guess. Anyways, thanks again.

LANEY- I just wanted to let you know that a little goes a long way. And when you apply it, just put a little in your hand and apply it to your whole body. Your body should not be greasy or oily. If it is, your using too much. Also, they migrate to the hairy parts of your body, all hairy parts, if you catch my drift! So put a little there too. Work it in with your finger tips in your scalp too. And remember, they will be on your clothes so when you come in from out side, take them off put them right in the wash on hot. They will not be able to survive the hot water. You don't want to transfer them into the house at all. It becomes a huge hassle especially if you have inside pets. Good luck!

Thor danced for his women today but I only got a shot of him getting ready to dance...Cannonball decided to jump on my forearm when I was taking the picture of his "dance" and all I got was a sickle feather and blur....then it was over

The babies are 12 days old today and are growing like crazy - they are becoming more and more difficult to photograph, but here are a couple of shots:

They are both spoiled rotten little girls...they get anything and everything they want. As does the 2 Orps. They get their feed mixed with oat bran, a bit of scratch, BOSS and red winter wheat berries every day...they get greens and veggies as treats every day too. So, I really do not know but thank you for the compliment I love em both too pieces.
