Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

OMG a few more I need to steal. hehehehehe Laney they look so good. That SawsAll is still such a great looking little thing.

Speckledhen - No not so much as a single feather. DH walked all 4 acres today looking under every bush and every cranny she could be. He even search a couple acres of the neighbor's adjoining property. I have about given up hope but I am going to keep looking for her of course.

Cetawin- I am so sorry!!! Who is missing?

Laney, those are sweet babies! It's good to see Sawsall doing so well. How is the little Spinner chick doing?

Jeremy, I had a dwarf also- sad, sad thing. Do not wish for one. He could barely get around, the others walked all over him, and he was just an tired, hurting darling. You could see it in his eyes.

Hope all Dellie lovers everywhere have a great day. Prayers for a safe journey for Scott!

Laney, ...how could I pass up that cuteness!? What can I say, I'm a glutton for torture.

Maybe instead of a dwarf I'll just buy that bantam Delaware roo that I saw on the auction awhile back, if he's still around.

Beth, my smallest SF girl, Fay. The only thing we can think is that we missed her in the head count and she was left outside in the run under the coop. But the mystery is that there are no signs...not a single feather, nothing. Their run is like fort knox....bear gauge chain link concreted in with hardwire cloth 3' up and buried out 2 feet and the run is covered too. We have looked to see if she wiggled out somewhere and the fencing is like Fort Knox but we have searched our property and the neighbor's and cannot find her anywhere.

Maybe she slipped out the people door past one us coming or going...she is so quiet and unobstrusive. This is my little girl at about 3 and a half months old:

Now, what do you do when you have a cockerel that is such a good boy in finding stuff for his girls, 2 of whom are mouthy Dellies, when he finds the wrong thing for them?

I was packing a box and heard Thor in the garden calling his girls over for something he had found....not unusual but I looked up to see what he had found them and it turned out he found them a nice long shiny screw

. Athena and Cannonball were fighting over it, one on each end
barnie.gif
So, I run outside in my jammies and slippers and end up in the mud from tackling Cannonball to get it away from her. Thor was prancing because I was obviously "After" one of the women and he did not know what to do...so I get the screw away from the goofball and am getting up when I see another one....so, everyone went back to the garage while I went searching. the folks who took my garden beds apart left all of the screws.

So, some 30 or so screws later....I think I have them all and will put the crew back out in a bit after another walk-through.

What idiots....I told them they could not take the fence yet because my babies spent the sunny days in the garden....why on earth would they leave the darn screws lying around?

I am having more coffee...I nearly had heart failure over this potential catastrophe. sheesh Did I mention I cracked a quarter of my rear molar off on Thursday night and am in vicadin lala land until I get it pulled tomorrow morning while this mess is going on? Oh and Cheyenne's concert is tomorrow night too and I am still trying to pack to move across counttry in 12 days...and I have vet appointments on Thurs and Fri? We will not even begin to discuss the hot flashes and other menopausal crapola going on.

I am going to lose it here real soon I think...

Cetawin, the image I get of you running, hootin' and hollerin' to get the screws away from them is just too much!

For you and a

For those workmen! I know how frustrating it can be to be moving, trust me! But just think, after it's all over you'll be in your beautiful new house, with your gorgeous barn. Much closer to the eastern branch of SDWD.

Now take a few deep breaths, try to convince yourself that packing is a meditation and get back to it!!

Cetawin, that is a mystery indeed about your little LF- I hope she shows up, she is a pretty little thing. Is there anywhere high up she could have flown to? Could she be sitting "up" somewhere laughing at you?

WorkMEN. Ha! If Laney hadn't already sent them a smack, I would. Good luck with your tooth - you have way too much on your plate right now, so I am sending you God's peace and sanity in my prayers.

My only Delli report is that the boys are starting to drag wings and circle ME instead of their hens, and Lizzie was rooting around in the nesting boxes today. I never thought a chicken could look flirtatious, but one of the Buckshots had the cutest little look in his eye as he dragged his wing and danced around- phooey. I think I've lost it entirely, thinking a flirtatious chicken is cute. But Thor seems to be the roo closest in age to mine, and I am memorizing everything Cetawin says that he does so I know what to expect. I thought Thor circling her was amazing, but maybe roos do that if you spend a lot of time with them?

Beth, I wish. Her chances are not good outside. We have coons, possum, fox, mountain lions, bobcats, bear you name it...it lives here.

But I will not give up until I am ready to get in the u-haul. I will keep looking.

My girls are not looking anywhere near ready to lay. They are still just babies, no where near egg laying adolescence.
barnie.gif
I am just gonna have to go have another talk with them.

(is not going to mention to Kathy that Libra might have laid an egg, had a different looking egg in the batch the other day an my egg production is up above the # of hens that should be laying) Libra was hatched on 11/4 making her 18 1/2 weeks.
