If they gave you the Vicodin with tylenol in it, you know you can still add Motrin to that (Ibuprofen) on odd hours to reduce the inflammation. You just can't mix in the tylenol (acetominophen) products with it.
Also, a good shot of alcohol, held in that section of the mouth for a few seconds helps numb the gums. An old Irish remedy. I'd recommend Jamesons Whiskey... just to hold true to the Irish part of the recommendation.
On the Packing, seriously take your time. I always do the "just throw it in the box and deal with it later" packing...and I'm still unpacking boxes over 18 months after moving in because dealing with each box is such a trauma.
