Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Laney,
You have the best advice! I'm with you on the packing, too! I still have unpacked boxes, as well as a garage full still at the old house in Iowa that our son bought.

I don't know which is worse .... the abscess or the hot flashes. MISERABLE, both are. At least the abscess pain will be gone soon.

Sending hugs to you, Lady Hawk.

AMEN Kathy every pain in the butt we have involves MEN doesn't it?

You know, at the time when he was explaining to me about the scraping and etc...I thought "eh no big deal" But oh good lord I feel like I have been hit in the face with a bat.

My dentist is so sweet but also a pain in the neck....he wanted to use my x-rays (historically) to document that I had doubles of all but one wisdom tooth. I actually have number 7 impacted in my jaw still. This one today was number 6.

He was excited when he said "Hey, I have only seen someone with 6...you make a new record for me".

Well Miss Cyn, you know that killer Taco Bell Beast is only defending his blanket from the 80 lb moose.

Laney, the vicodin is straight up but I have 800 mg Ibuprofen here to top it off with.

Black Cohosh is a root...it is fabulous for menopausal symptoms...I also take it combo with Evening Primrose which seems to help the night sweats more than the Cohosh alone. I run the black cohosh for about 12 - 16 weeks and then take 8 - 10 weeks off. There is blue cohosh also but it is useless for this and it can be dangerous for people with BP and heart conditions...as well as various others.

Here is the info for you ladies...men click to the next page hahahaha

Black cohosh is an herb used extensively in Europe for treating hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists supports short-term use of black cohosh - up to six months - for treating menopausal symptoms.

Other common supplements for hot flash:

Vitamin E (400 - 800 IU)
Dong Quai
Wild Yam
Evening Primose Oil

Scientific evidence of these supplements for hot flashes is not strong as black cohosh.

Laney, that "just toss it in boxes" is how I ended up with half the crap I am throwing away. but I am down to the wire (in my type A pesonality dictate) 11 days roughly. So much still to do egads.

I have been taking something called Transitions - list of ingredients a mile long, including Black Cohosh, but am not sure if I should go off it if it's not straight Black Cohosh. Thanks for the tip on Evening Primrose Oil- I may try that. I am SO tired of waking up two, three, four times a night with those rotten flashes, it's so hard to get back to sleep. I can deal with it in the daytime.

Your new Avatar "Thor" is a great picture, Cetawin. He is so expressive!

I have to get rid of some of these roos- my second choice roo is starting to pull on the hen's combs. He hurt Cora, and that is really making me mad. First choice roo and second choice roo also decided to chase my DH and peck his legs. Of course, DH sort of asked for it - he never goes in with them, and he just walked in to fix some of the overhead netting that had come loose without a hello or how do ye do, and the boys were just doing their rooster protection thing - BUT they are picking on each other, too. I would like to try keeping First Choice Roo Luke, who has the black and white tail barring, Buckshot because he has stayed sweet and Ultrasuede, who I wouldn't give up for anything. I would cull the two with Columbian markings (no one responded to the feed store notice) and two more-the meany and another who looks like him- they have charcoal and black tails instead of black and white, good in the body, one has a 6-7 point comb, the other has a 6 point that is sort of weird but not too bad. I don't think I should offer them here, since everyone seems to have their own good roos coming along. I am going to try another feed store in town, and if that doesn't work, there is a livestock auction every Saturday. I can't worry if someone else eats them, just so it's not me.

You are welcome Beth...I found those combination thing do not work as well as the straight up Black Cohosh and evening Primrose...you can get both at the health food store or pharmacy...heck even wal-mart carries them.

Do you have any recent pics of Buckshot? Cannonball was asking about him. hehehe He may not be " # 1" by and standards but if he stays sweet. looks good and takes care of his girls...that is worth more to me than standard...besides that makes them perfect doesn't it? Is your intent to breed Delawares? If not, I would keep the ones that are all around good boys.

Severus is a mutt but he is the best boy...personality and everything is great that is why he stays. Sirius and Draco may end up at an auction in Kentucky as well. I cannot find homes for them and I am supposed to pull out of here in 10 days and a wake up. Draco while being beautiful is just a pain in the butt to me....but good with everyone else. The choosing can be really hard though so I guess it boils down to what your plans are and what the roo's job will be.

So, get some pics of Buckshot up and I will bring Cannonball in to look him over. I am so thankful that girl's beak is healing because we would have been totally heartbroken here if not.

Beth, one day we are going to have get on the phone when Thor is in his 'talkative' mode...he is very expressive indeed.

So hopefully tomorrow the pain will ease up and bending over will not make me pray for death. LOL I have to bend over to pick up my boy Thor. hahaha

Thanks!

Kathy- once again I am speechless- or close to it- Good GRIEF, Woman!!!

Cetawin, I will get some good ones tomorrow if the weather allows and Buckshot feels photogenic. I wanted to breed, but may have to wait for a roo if Luke turns out to be nasty. I love my hens. Just LOVE them. I don't want them picked on. So far Luke and I have a truce. I like him, but he just HAS to try to bite at least once a day. Oh, and Ultrasuede is letting me pick him up and kiss him. If there is no poop, that is. And when you get settled, let's talk - I would LOVE to hear Thor, and you can listen to Lizzie, who is an absolute chatterbox!

I hope your tooth feels better- I was hoping by today, after being drugged, that it would let up. I haven't had a kid, so I can't say, but I have heard the tooth stuff is more horrible than childbirth. I know I have just about gone under with root canalsf. YUCK.

Tricia, congratulations- hope you don't mind us asking for updates and pics when the babies come!

Tacey, glad you are back safely, and I look forward to chick pics!
