Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Tim, all four of them look like pullets right now. I had one late blooming cockerel once that I was positive was a pullet. He wasn't marked much and his comb just popped up overnight.

Kathy, I'm happy that Holly has found a place in your family! She's so cute and tiny!

I found my first itty-bitty Dellie egg today out in the run it's about the size of a robin's egg. The girls have been really showing the signs of starting up as of late, BTW they will be exactly 5 mos. old tomorrow so they are right on target for starting to lay. The two boys are finally starting to look more like roosters instead of gawky galoots that looked more like raptors on Jurrasic Park, esp. if they were running, it looked as if they were going to topple end over tea kettle. The girls are looking more like laying hens everyday, boy when they change it seems as if over night they appear to age drasticly. Also, I just can't get over the sizes of these guys, I guess I've been raising Pro. reds and Sex-links for so long now I've forgot what a large type dual-purpose bird really looked like, even my 1 Black Australorp(hatchery type) hen is big but these girls take the case on big hens and they are still young yet and the boys are already as big if not bigger than my Pro. red roo and my BR roo also. Anyway happy farming everbody.

Well here's the morning update. Out of 26 Dels and 6 EE's set. 4 EE's and 1 Del. A couple of more Dels have started to pip, so I am still hopeful. I you believe keep praying. Have a nice day.

Oh LadyHawk, I am so sorry that you are going through this! What a good girl you have to care and worry about her mama.

I really wish I was closer too, I would help you. Moving is stressful and when you aren't feeling good it is H E double hockey sticks!

Wow, there is so much to catch up on that I am going to be reading for hours. It is that time of year and lots to do.

My Dels are looking fantastic. I am just as surprised as the rest of you how these birds bloom overnight. What I thought were so-so are now way good!

Anyone have Del chick pics? Needing a del fix...

All of my hatches have been slower lately, too, and one was even a day late also. Even one of my broody hens is hatching a day late today. I'm wondering if something's up with the barometric pressure.

This is definitely becoming a weird hatching season for me.

Actually, my hatch that was a day late still gave me 12 new Del babies and 4 blue wheaten Ameraucana/EE chicks...plus a boatload of bantam Cochins.

So NEVER give up hope...until day 24 anyways.

Good morning everyone!

I noticed when I candled a couple days ago that it looks as if almost ALL of my embryos are developing faster than they should be? (Could just be my inexperience.) I'm actually worried that instead of the babies hatching late, they'll decide to come early!

Not that I would really mind...
