Yes you are so right Catstar! Delaware dealers and I have to admit I succumed too. I just got a BIG fix today in the mail....

They are here Cynthia every beautiful, clean, brown healthy, unbroken egg!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a great job packing you do. I opened every one with TLC and they are resting and waiting for tomorrow when they go in the incubator. Ahhhhh I am so excited.

They are absolutely beautiful eggs. And they are going to be literally a Thanksgiving hatch (11/26). Now that is a really good reason to celebrate!

Ok I will stop now. Everyone close your browser before you get hooked...ah never mind--Delawares are an addiction that is worth every minute of loving them. Where is my black coat, I want to join you ladies.

Hehehe, actually.... I have sat at the farmers market and at a swap, and at the local Walmart.... with my good Delawares. I got several people on them.

You know how we BYC'ers are, addicted to pictures.

RUSTYSWOMAN! CA-UTE Chicks! Oh my gosh, mine are turning out nicely, but... I think I only have two pure Delawares. I was dumb and mixed my hens together, so... yeah. I have one that looks like a Delaware, except when its back feathers came in, they were tan and brown, and patterend like a mixed hen I have. I think I learnt my lesson

I never realized how big these birds could be!

They aren't quite as big as my Partridge Cochin roo, but they are heavy! Biggest hens I've got.

I just hope they start laying like crazy, cuz my two Dellies are BEAUTIFUL.

They are chunky birds, that's for sure. At least the proper ones are.
You know, I wasn't mailing any eggs and didn't want to, but kathyinmo was sneaky and said she wanted to buy a quilt and a sweatshirt I had up for auction, if they could come wrapped around some Delaware eggs. So, how could I say no? Then I decided that I would take someone who had asked about the eggs and, once in awhile, when I could handle wrapping and mailing eggs, and ask if they'd like some Delaware eggs. Since rustyswoman had been asking for ages, I PMd her. I cant do it all the time or on a schedule, but maybe this way, some will be able to get these and start their own quality flock and aid in the preservation efforts.
