Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Finally, it is dry enough for a dirt bath! I am sooooo enjoying this hot weather without rain!

Well I went to the show at the NYS fairgrounds and not one Delaware. Lots of other breeds weren't there either. No Buckeyes or Javas.
The "eggcarton.com folks were there and won a nice hoody sweatshirt in their free drawing. They were real nice and answered my questions about different products they have. I got some Nopick spray from them and will try it out.
Good garden o' peas, I never knew there were so many varieties of Marans. Only some BC's shown that I recall.
Anyone know why not so many people show?
Here in NY you have to be NPIP tested. Is that a hard thing?
The eggcarton guys and I talked about a new incu design they're working on and it was neat. They designed a new Hygrometer and that was cool. They explained some of the products they have in the way of meds and such.
I always think it's a good show when I learn something.

Wishing you the best
Rancher

Please send the sun to us in the mtns of NC. The rain has swamped us. I hate muddy runs. Mine drain well but this is just too much to bare.
Cyn, Stormy has quieted down. I'm going to keep him. He can be sweet.

Gee, just catching up

I'm finally over the bugs and tooth problem.
I am finishing up the inside of my last edition to the coop complex. I want floors not soil that gets everything so dirty now. This last one has them and two windows plus a window in the door for air circulation. Its still hot sometimes in there. I also put a small run out from it that is covered and enclosed. I filled it with white play sand. The run has wire hardware cloth under it and secured to the wire that goes up with screws. I saw a rat the other day. Yikes:barnie , The mother hen Misty and her Dell and Rock babies are going there. Iwant them to be esp. safe. They need a larger area than they are in now. I wish I had the time and money to floor them all. Maybe I can do one section at a time thoughout this year until I finish it. It would be nice to just enjoy them without the building for awhile.
Cyn are you sure you are sure about that little dapper roo?

Beth, Sorry I almost know for sure the hatched baby that I was going to let you have that was to be a hen ,that is splash; is a roo. Now is there anyone who wants a young 12 week old splash roo here. Its Suedes grandson.
Katy, Whew!!!!!! It would kill me to have soo many pretty babies at once, even for awhile. It is fun seeing them running about though they are precious.

Oh a Suede grandson...nope cannot take him. There is a 11th Commandment in my house "Thou shalt have no other Splash Roo before Thor, Son of Suede"

The swap was really pretty good....we had a good variety of stuff there including goats. There was even a Delaware pair for sale ummmm let's just say that boy is no Isaac and I did not even take a picture of his woman behind him

I only came home with one bird....and a small cage for her: This little gal came from SBatz...a bantam cochin....dang it this is all Shadow's fault

Originally, it was this little EE Bantam roo that Cheyenne managed to somehow get from PhoenixFeatherFarm...then he had to have a woman so the bantam cochin into play so we had two new birds. Then Cheyenne caught/thought he was being mean to the little girl so she wanted a refund/give back on the roo but SBatz did not want him to have to go all the way back home with PhoenixFF so the roo stayed with SBatz and the cochin came with us....what a trade around this was

I met several BYCers, SBatz, wegotchickens and hubby, PhoenixFeatherFarm and several others...here is Sbatz, moi and wegotchickens and hubby (no I was not mad, I was looking into the sun trying to find out what bird my DD was trying to talk someone out of)

This is why I had to keep a close eye on Cheyenne...I saw this every time I turned around

Good day, I showed restraint and am proud of myself because I really wanted this little pgymy girl

HOW could you pass up that pygmy goat????????? OMG, I want her!!!

Sarah (scbatz) is who I got my original Lavender eggs from. Looks like you had wayyyy to much fun there!

Tim,
Lucky you, going to a show. You are gonna have to start showing your birds, yes?

Gloria Jean,
Glad you are feeling better, and that all your chick family is gdoing well. The rain is just horrible this year, isn't it? I guess we just have to enjoy the (few and far between) nice days in between.

Except for the massive yellowing on that Del rooster, he's not bad at all. Of course, I'd rather see him standing up tall to really be sure.

I bet Cheyenne is just over the moon with all the new kids! You know, Ladyhawk, you look very much like Tom's mother and her daddy's side of the family. I never saw it before this picture, but yep, it's there. I'll have to send you a picture of his mother sometime.

was not easy Kathy OMG but I knew I'd be living in the barn if I came home with her. hahahaha

We had a fun day for sure...I am 98% sure I have found a home for my 2 drakes I took, I will call the lady this coming week and make arrangements. But the lady sold all of her goats...she made out like a bandit. I think she brought 8 or so with her.

Cyn, that was a big boy! He could not stand up tall tall in the cage. hahahaha He just looked so unhappy in that cage This boy had a HUGE comb....a comet roo

Oh and DEXTER is back to being just a couple hours from you now....no one bought him and I would not let Cheyenne keep him...so he is still available for Shadow. I'm just saying.

Cetawin, out of curiosity, if I m not being too snoopy, how is your weight coming along? You still look like a teenincy skinny little bit of a thang. I could not have been as disciplined as you at that swap- but that little golden sweetie you got has a beautiful color. That goat was a cutie-

Gloria Jean, I am glad you are feeling better, and very sorry that splash in a roo- I sort of share Cetawin's 11th commandment, except mine is even stricter, NO BBS ORP besides Ultrasuede at all. Poor boy has only one long tail feather left- I don't know if he is molting them in favor of bigger ones, or if the Del girls are turning into wenches. I look at Luke and Ultrasuede's combs first thing every morning to see if my girl's have morphed into bloodthirsty wenches or not.

Kathy, how did the rest of the hatch turn out? Did those last eggs make it?

Tim, I have not seen any Delawares at shows in my area, either. I have to get up enough guts to show them myself, but I am really nervous about catching something horrible- my birds, not me.

Cynthia, you are not sobbing and kicking, all brokenhearted on your bed over Dexter or anything, are you?
