Paaz...Ruthie's leg is damaged, deformed or previously injured at the hip, it may not be outwardly affecting her or bothering her but I would watch for swelling, color changes or limping more/ No breeding for her. A rooster mounting her could cause pain or further damage.

Her toenails need to be filed which may help her with her toes.

We have already filed her nails and it seems to be more comfortable. We actually just just got Ruthie on Thursday June, 24, 2010.

She will actually NEVER be in with a rooster. We got her just to spoil and love. The original plan for her was to be for eating eggs, so we are sticking to the plan.
The lady we got her from said she was born like that. and She said it was just her toes, but when we got home nad watched her walk thats when we noticed her leg was that bad!
Poor Girl! She is a Sweetheart and will have a forever home where she wont have to worry about a thing!

My BF said it almost looks like her leg isnt in socket, but when I felt it flet like it was in, BUT it could have been like that so long that the tissue and such as formed for it. She is only about 20 weeks old so about 4-5 months old. Its just when she walks I almost wonder how she can even walk. But it really doesnt seem to bother her so I will try to keep her comfortable as long as i can.

Do you think there would be any way to try to "Fix" it? maybe a splint or something or is it too far now?

Thank you SOO much!!

I posted pics of Ivy, grape stuffed and happy, on her own thread in pics and stories- but here is a picture of two wonderful ladies that everyone on this thread knows and loves: Speckledhen and Cetawin!

I see I need to get back to my "Quilting Diet" now that our weekend of great food and cheesecake is over. I think I was very brave, standing next to my very svelte friend, though. I hate having my picture taken!

Glad y'all had a great visit.....I'm SURE no one at your place (chickens that is) were spoiled at all, right??!!

Cyn, as for food.....you gotta splurge every now and then!! If eating well (and that means NO FUN, NO TASTE, etc) is gonna add a day or two to my life....big deal!! I need to enjoy it once in a while. Life's too short not to enjoy it along the way.

Hotter than blue blazes down this way again today. Expecting 95F +/-

I am sooooooo ready for Fall. Summer time takes a toll on me and my birds! I let Pepper and the girls out yesterday and they didn't go far from the coops at all. Stayed under the big oak tree or out in the woods teh whole time. Never ventured down to the house or the flower beds...too much "open space" with that hot sun to cross thru I guess (smart birds!)

Gotta go sell something to "pay for my addictions"

Have a great day

Cynthia, petite Cetawin crumpled up in a ball would be barely the size of one of my thighs- as one could note from the picture on the other thread. I do believe even Kate Moss would worry standing next to her! The cheesecake was divine and I wouldn't have turned it down for the world!

Harriet flew off the nest this morning like the world was ending- raced out of the barn and proceeded to glare at the rest of the world for about 20 minutes. In the meantime, Hermione jumped on the same nest to lay her egg- Harriet went back in the barn and threw a fit till I lifted Hermione off. Harriet jumped on so fast that I didn't get to see if Hermione laid or not - I put her in the neighboring nest that I created to duplicate the one they had been sharing- I hope Hermione will switch spots - I don't want her going off into the woods in a grumble because Harriet is broody on their mutual nest.

I do so hope I get a couple of pure Dellies out of this in a few weeks- should I be able to tell right away if they are Ultrasuede's kids instead?

Scott- good luck selling!
