hahaha I told you Panda was going over the deep end. That cluck cluck was telling. Those spurs just crack my husband up and flip Cheyenne out. She is always watching them when she picks DeDe up. I told her that DeDe had yet to attack anyone with them so not to worry about it overly much. hahahaha

Kathy - thank you, I kinda like her...most days.

That chick is too cute...very pretty and I love the markings. Wonder if this June x Isaac egg hatches....what the chick will look like? hehehehe Better be a girl dang it. I better have all girls in these eggs.

My Dellies are sure troublemakers good thing I love em so....they are little escape artists quite the social butterflies so to speak I have 2 batches running side by side and the dividing fence isn't tight so they just go back and forth (the pullets only) because the food must be better the Roos just watch them and don't seem to care. I have a younger group of pullets that I'm going to band and just run next to those 13 week old ones they are 9 weeks....I don't want to run them with the oldest ones who are so close to laying that way I'll just have 2 groups of them...I hope they stay this way or maybe just because all of them are young but they never have been bossy over any little ones when they were in the brooder now the Marans will chase. I open the door to the brooding stall and those Dellies will run out because the door slides look at my dogs who know not to touch them (Jack Russells) but they would surely chase em if they would run and look at the dogs as if to say neener neener neener mommy will kill you if you touch me and stroll off to the other chickens. They only act silly when they know I'm going to catch them but they fall for a pretend treat every time...Several of them peck my pants to be picked up they love pets the nuts. I had friends over the other day they couldn't believe their size or how they come running up for visiting they had never seen or heard of Delawares. I'm so glad I decided to try them out they're like potato chips

Just candled the eggs again. 6 with definite veining. 5 showing no growth at all. 1 cracked on the trip from Mo and unable to fix it and 6 questionable. Too thick shell to see any veining but have dark spots on one side of the shell. Keep praying for these little ones......... Today is day 5. Sure would love some of these little Dellies to hatch.

Its been a while since I dropped by, but I would like to share how my delawares are coming along. The two roos are very close in stature and are HUGE! My one remaining pullet after just a week and a half started laying large eggs and she is already a mommy as I have some chicks hatched out of her. She started laying around 22 weeks. They are just over 7 months old in these pics. The pullet appears in the picture to have a barred tail but I can assure it is a solid color.

Kathychks- I hope those questionable ones start showing some positive signs for you-

We need some more Dellie chicks hatching on this thread so we can all get our chickie fix.

Kathyinmo- she is sitting tight! She is not eating much, which worries me. I am shoving treats up under her nose- she is a free ranger and doesn't really like chicken feed, so I am scrambling egg and giving her fruit- so at least I know she is getting something - DH keeps asking me what I am going to do with them if they are all Ultrasuede's, but I'll cross that bridge when we come to it. How are you doing on downsizing? And how is that beautiful Jacob doing?

Biomistake- those fine roos sure do look like twins in that first picture. You girl has really pretty hackles markings- and the tail black looks like it is going to be fine. Were her chicks Del chicks or a cross? How do they look? BTW, you have a really pretty mixed flock-

No, I am not working two jobs. Not yet anyway. I am still trying to find that DARN chord, and I think I just heard a mouse... Oh my gosh O_O The only problem that I have with Goli is that he is very timid, especially with the other roosters. My little Wyandotte cockerel can pick on him, and he is only a third of his size!! I want to help the boy out, but he has to let me.

Cetawin, I had a hen develop some spurs. She turned out to the best mama I had. But it was weird lookin' alright.

biomistake- Those birds are beautiful. Your boys look pretty inseparable, and handsome. Off of what Joletabey said, your girls tail looks fine. Were not all after the standard on our birds, but we do try. But, we have to have birds to love as well!! Sometimes its the mixed ones who get us
