Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Oh, my goodness! She sure loves her daddy and misses her main squeeze terribly.

Ike's toe seems to be on the mend but I have another concern with him. The main flock was let out so I let him out with them for the first time. I noticed him breathing very hard yesterday, even with his neck stretching upward and pulsing out with every breath and making this dry sort of noise like he hasn't seen water in ages--the heat/humidity seems to be really getting to him after his bout with infection. He isn't drinking enough. DH used a syringe to try to put water in his mouth, but so much ran out, he thought Isaac was having trouble swallowing. The toe infection seems to be gone, but he is breathing so hard, I fear he'll drop dead from this awful humidity. We put him back up in the hospital cage with water and he's sharing Zane's fan, the only one around here that has good wind, but I'm quite concerned about him.

Morning all....like Cyn said, HOT and HUMID here.

Praying for some rain as we need it badly.

I have a goofy question I hope someone can help with. I noticed Sassy (my lightly colored Del girl) has what appears to be a red rash on her legs. DW has camera at Vacation Bible School today so I cant take pictures until later. Best way to describe it would be to liken it to the rash that people get when exposed to poison ivy. Kinda red and a little welpy.

I looked up pix of scaley leg mites and it doesn't have that appearance and none of the others in that coop have anything on their legs.

Any ideas???

Everyone have a GREAT Friday.....

BTW - JamesA contacted me the other day. He has moved and is getting on with life after his divorce. He asked me if I had any Dels for sale which I don't/didn't, BUT, I am incubating some for him so he can "join the club again". He had to sell his 'bators, but just wants a few birds at his new place for eggs and company.

Cyn...maybe do another 3 day round of penicillin...grapes and watermelon...ice cubes in a bowl of water....

Scott, I am not sure about that...does not sound like leg mites at all. Hopefully someone knows for sure..

NOW LISTEN UP EVERYONE...THERE WILL BE NO MORE HEAT LOSSES NONE...NOT A SINGLE ONE...NO MORE NO NO NO !!!!!

So let it be written...so let it be done!

New2Chooks....look at those pictures of Cannonball...she is an expert at Dellie Mind Control...NEVER LOOK THEM IN THE EYE!

Too late! I already looked her in the eye.

Honestly, I knew I wanted some dellies from when Kathy and Joletabey hatched theirs and commented how friendly they are.

I would go with more PCN for Isaac, too. I wonder if that infection went systemic. Oh dear, I sooooo hope will recover and return to his flock.

Heat is subsiding here. It is moving your way (east). Our 10 day forcast is highs of 90 and lows in 60s. Some relief from the above 100* temps we have had.

Scott, I don't know about that rash. If I recall correctly I read about someone else with the same description. I believe Pine Grove posted a suggestion. If I were you I would PM Pine Grove, as he is so experienced and knowledgeable.

Scott- I have no idea, but good luck! And I am SO glad JamesA is doing OK and wants more Dellies. See, once you have had them, you can't do without them!

Ladyhawk, I posted at the same time as you, and missed your Cannonball story - what a little sweetie!!! But how rough on BOTH of you to have BOTH your men gone.......I would take Cannonball and sit in the shade and eat grapes and chocolate for the next week!

Cynthia, we have to get that boy well- if he is not drinking, then grapes, watermelon, anything juicy that gets liquid in him would be good.

I am with Cetawin- NO MORE LOSSES!!!!!!!!!!!

New2Chooks- got a 'bator? Someone here would most certainly send you some eggs!

I keep lurking on this thread, but am currently waiting on a delivery of Dellie eggs from zephyrcreek as I have a broody who is just dying to hatch out some eggs. Hopefully I will be able to post pics of my own Dellies soon

I was really trying not to have any more chicks this year, but my broody insists she have some of her own eggs to hatch. So why not give her Dellie eggs!
