Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

I'm glad I'm not the only Del junky out there! the girls are always right there watching me, like what are you going to do for us now, maybe it's a good thing I don't treat them. the funny thing is they don't seem to care for my brothers. I went out there the other night, and sat down to make some notes in my flock book and one of the boys jumped into my lap and just looked at me like so... I've never met a breed so ALIVE! they come close to making the bantams dull

I've picked out names for my boys, Tonka & Tank {

I love your names! Aren't they just the greatest! I am so enjoying them. I swear I can see them growing by the minute. Mine are in the attached garage, and when I get home from work at night (11:30PM), I swear they greet me as I enter! That's our play time! LOL (Anyway, *my* playtime! yuk yuk) I have noticed the other birds getting friendlier, since the Dels are in with them. I am thinking they must be influencing the whole "gang!"

I have noticed I have a couple slow bloomers. 2 seem to be smaller and less feather coloring coming in. I keep an eye on them, to be sure they are eating and drinking well. Today was yogurt day, and they all went crazy for that! They just love it.

Well thanks all for your insight on him. Not a nice fellow and can't use him otherwise so looks like barbacue this weekend! Gosh darn back to square one with my Del's.Why our Delaware's not to commen??? I can't understand it.

Jessalynn,
I agree! Dels are the perfect bird- why aren't there more nuts like us out there raising them? I am sorry your boy isn't a Del, but there will be one out there for you!

Crazy Lady - yes, alive, alert! It amazes me, too!

KathyinMO- keep me posted on your slow bloomers. I have three, including Superchick that are not doing much in the way of feathering yet, and are very quiet compared to the rest of the heathens. I see them eat, etc, but am hoping that when I expand the brooder this weekend they will find some more room to express themselves if the others aren't dominating all the space-

Bought some Delaware eggs from someone on ebay.I couldn't stand not having what I want

JessaLynn, good luck with those babies! You should recruit that lady to BYC

Were a growing family!

I think it would be neat to design a simple program to make your poultry books with. Like sire listings, hen listings, egg production rate, etc. And just to keep record of your birds

I think there is one out there though...

Any kind of chart would help - although I suppose you could make one easily enough if you are computer literate. I AM NOT!!!! So if you make one,Del-girl, please send me a copy!!!

JessaLynn - congrats on your purchase - keep us posted!! I agree with Del-girl- get that egg seller on BYC!

I am still waiting for the DH to help me with the picture thing. My spoiled brats are growing!! In fact they are growing so much I expanded their brooder today - made them new Dellie Digs - however they won't go into the new part for any length of time. It's exactly like the old part- I had huge rubbermaid tubs and connected one that was exactly like their brooder to another one with a pail, as I saw someone on here do, and when I first put them in it, they were all over it, back and forth, racing and cheeping, and I was SO proud of myself... it has water and feed on that side, too, the exact seem heat lamp, and the little BRATS are still all on the other side. Guess I will have to break down and feed yogurt tomorrow on the new side and see if I can't get them more excited about it.
Actually, there was one baby that tried to stay over on the new side and nap, but no one joined him, so he gave up and went back.
Buckshot scooted up my arm and took a rest under my chin for a few minutes. . . .and I see a few little combs developing here and there. . . . . .Superchick is starting to look up at me when I talk to them, and still hops up on top of the feeders to observe everyone else. Still breathing extremely fast and hard, but doesn't seem bothered by anything . . . .well, that's my update.
