Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, FELLOW DELLIE FREAKS!!!
Laney and Kathy - OK!! Ultrasuede it is - works either way, hen or roo!!!!

I am seeing a little comb, though, so in spite of my hopes, I may be building a separate run and getting some girlfriends of the right perSUEDEsion and breeding some blues!

Kathy, glad those shoes are working!!!! Cynthia, I am not so sure it is a tendon with my little chick, it may be that in all the harem -scarem antics of this crowd that she may have gotten bumped - she was one of the smaller chicks, BUT she is walking and was the first one to jump in the Thanksgiving scrambled eggs this morning, so I have hopes she will function, if a bit crookedly.

Cetawin, all three of those kids of yours are beauties- Fattie and Cannonball are well named! And I love Thor's color - pretty, pretty -

Crazy Lady - I am SO sorry about George!!!! I am on constant guard with my kitties, although only Roux has evinced interest in hanging over the brooder like a vulture.

Who had the Dellie chick that would grab a shirt sleeve and hang on? I have one, too. I also have little red peck marks all over my arm.. . . . . I am having a good laugh over the punk rocker look of the feathers coming in on the shoulders - they stick straight up!!!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!!! It's a beautiful day here in western NC- Joanne, do yo have snow?

Oh, that makes me think of the ones that kept grabbing the strap to my camera, when I was in the brooder snapping pictures. Here is a couple shots of that ....

Here's one, showing off the feather growth!

Another thing I noticed is that the Dellies seem to stick together, when in the brooder with all their hatchmates. This is one little area in the brooder with 42 chicks, see how they are all together:

They just climb all over me!

This is that special time of year when the turkey, ham, and chicken on the table mean one special thing: FAMILY! Lol. I'm crazy.

Kathyinmo, cute pictures! Those babies are precious. I've got one myself that comes up to me when I'm refilling the feeder and tugs on my pinky until I rub under its beak, spoiled baby, lol.

Well, I've got another hen acting strange like the one I talked about in earlier posts. I asked about in the emergency section. We'll see how it goes

For sure ! ! I think I have everyone in town interested in the Delaware breed now. I talk about them at the feed store, and it seems the word has spread, and everyone is asking about them now! I want to hatch as many as possible in the spring. What I hope to do, as Cyn does, is increase the interest and the population of quality Dellies! I'm so excited about this venture.

I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving! I have some depressing news, for myself mainly. My cockerel has 9 points, it seems. I was hoping his father would influence his comb better, but I was wrong. I should I have chosen from a better breeder, but I was dumb. The hens and rooster he came from all had nice combs and bodies, but we all know how that can go sometimes.

Yes, sadly he has almost double the points he should have. And most of the time, that will pass on, though not always. My Kira has a messy comb, but with Isaac's influence, their daughter Gracie seems like hers will be a nice one. We were not sure if Kira's would pass down, and it may on some of her kids, but obviously, Gracie proved that it does take two parents' genes combined and what one lacks, the other can make up for. However, nine points will be hard to overcome.
