Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

It's a terrible picture

I'll try to get a better one in the near future; hopefully with some good "roosting action" going on

I have 3 pullets and Roo. 2 of the pullets legs were greenish when they were little but are now yellow. Unfortunately I didn't leg band identify which ones they were. I got my chicks from some "so called" heritage breeders, but I'm not a serious breeder. I am wonder what sort of quality Delawares I have. They are 21 weeks old.

Please let me know if I need to send the Rooster to "Cooking School". Thanks!

The brown showing is mud/dirt...not feather color!

Can you see the one in the far background, up on the Myrtlewood roost?

Yeah; gets dark early up here (but not as bad as you guys up in Alaska)

AllCoop'dUp
You have nice yellow legs and beaks on your Delawares. Your boys comb follows the line of his head, and he appears to be nice size, though I can't see real well from the angle of the picture what his shape is. These are all good things to start with.

AllCoop'dUp, you have some very lovely young ladies there as well as your boy. I don't think it's time to start talking freezer camp for him just yet. Let him mature before you make the decision to cull. Like after his first serious molt. So much of the appearance of the cockerel changes during this time. He may have just the body type and coloration you're looking for.

Pullet #2 and #3 look very nice, but a bit better angle would tell us a great deal more. From what I can see in your photos, I agree with Kathy: great leg and beak color. If you could provide us with pictures taken straight from the side, head on, and from directly behind, we'll be able to help you better. It's difficult to tell body shape from the pictures you have posted thus far. Try to stay on a level even with their tummies, that way we'll be able to see their shape real good!

Hope you'll post some more pictures very soon.

See the chickies up on the beautiful Myrtlewood perch?... See the hoard of vultures hovering over the large pork roast bone, to the far right?

P.S. Ignore the silly reflections in the glass. No; I do NOT have a wheelbarrow, nor fencing, in there with them, lol.
