I am so sorry. I know what you are saying, and I understand. Still, it is heartbreaking news.

I went outside to get pictures of the Coronations today, and my camera battery was dead. I will try tomorrow. They sure are growing.

Dels, I can not tell from their chick size what size they will be when grown. Eggs ... I think it is just that time of year when they all slow down. Daylight hours are fewer, etc. Yes, roos can stress them, too. I had one girl that would hide out inside all day, but when I got rid of an extra roo she returned to joining the others outside.

Positive. And it's not horrible. It sucks, but horrible would be losing the house and our health

we're not there, and don't intend to go there

Just going with the flow. I've been without chickens before, and know where my priorities lie. I'll never not have at least one chicken, even if it's the last thing I have

I just need to downsize in a major way, and fast.

Cindi, fingers crossed and prayers for yall

Cindi won't he be eligible for unemployment? Don't forget to take advantage of benefits you've paid into like food stamps and don't be afraid to ask cuz they won't tell you everything you are eligible for. Apply for everything the most the can say is no.

Hope things improve

Eligible yes, whether it's there or not long term would be the issue. We will get AFDC and get the kid on insurance. We had to before, and I DON'T feel the least bit guilty about it considering we paid it in and we NEED it. So, yeah. That's one reason I would rather get rid of the chickens. Eating them would be pointless if we have food provided. That would just add insult to injury. I'd rather see them go to improve someones Delaware flock, or start someone's flock. They really are good birds, and decent starter birds for someone not already into Del's. The others are mainly pet quality, except the Buff's are pretty decent, nice large girls they are, gotten from a BYC'er in fact and she did a great job breeding these ladies. So yeah, I'd like to see the majority go to those who know what they are doing with them. Know what I mean?

It's weird actually...think about it...I'm STILL just as well off as half the people in this country...same as when DH had a job

My status hasn't changed, just the income. The first time was hard. This will be a breeze. I'll get upset every once in a while, but it'll pass, as will the situation

Steady faith. Must keep perspective. Last time I got upset right off the start

Avoiding that THIS time

Just know that on those occasions when you do start to feel down trodden, we're all here for you. Come talk to us. We'll cheer you up! I hope and pray for you and your DH that he can find other employment very soon. As in Monday! Then you wouldn't have to spend another minute thinking about dissolving your flock. You do have your priorities right my dear. Family and home must come first in all things. I am very glad to hear that you will be keeping a few. Those birds are going to become very precious to you in the days and weeks ahead, I'm sure. Please keep us posted on how things are going. I wish you were closer to me. I'd buy every single one of your Del's and your BO's too!! Any idea of how much you're going to ask for them?
