Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Oh boy! You're in deep trouble now Kathy!!

You broke the cardinal rule! You took pictures of one of your ladies when she's having a bad feather day!!
th.gif
And worse yet, you PUBLISHED IT!!!!!

Oh dear! Oh dear! Oh dear! Oh dear!! That otherwise sweet little girl is gonna find you in the middle of the night and she's gonna poo right on the top of your head!
lau.gif
She's surely going to exact her revenge, somehow, some day! You just wait and see if she don't!

Outside of that, those are some great pictures. The babes are progressing very nicely! I so wish they had been old enough to send up here when Maggie and the girls made the trip. But let's face it. They were just too little [still are] to face our kind of winters up here. *sigh* Such sweet little faces. I sure hope Bill appreciates them! The lucky dog!

Now you've got my curiosity up about something here. That light Sussex that you show in one of the pictures......Do you have a roo to go with her? I ask because the hackles on Cosette look nearly identical to your LS hen there. Either she's coming in much darker than she would otherwise, on account of Maggie's genetics, or Maggie wasn't as faithful to the Del boys as we first thought!

Hmmmm...I'll have to get a good picture of the two of them side by side so you can see what I mean. Heck! I should be getting good pictures of them regardless! You and Mike should see how your wee girls are coming along! Cosette has been my little cuddle bug for most of the day today. Every time I went out there to visit the flock, Cosette came running and cried and cried and cried to be picked up! She's such a sweetie pie!

And she's really starting to come out of her shell now! [pardon the pun!

Lisette is friendly in her own way, but like I said before, she's definitely the quieter of the two. I think she probably takes after her mama the most!

KAthy, I got 3 for sure, one is on the fence...possibly a touch of a "late bloomer" I'll know better tomorrow, when they're up and movin around, instead of snuggled in for the night. I hadn't honestly counted yet, I've just been enjoyin em as much as possible
love.gif
I can tell you, they'll absolutely love me when the basement brooder gets done!!! I'm plannin on makin sort of a play area for em, so they can scratch around and be as close to normal stuff as possible... Just a kiddie pool with dirt/hay n such in there for em to enjoy, while they grow out a bit longer in the basement!

Clear skies tonight... and it is getting k-k-cold!. Sooo; I checked on my babies a few minutes ago (had just got back from being away from the house, and they look darling

Probably can't tell on the pic, but the one sleeping up on the roost had their beak tucked away. Aaawww; they're so ugly and adorable at this age (4.5+ weeks).

More common than genetic is that they stay in the egg too long while trying to hatch. Since the legs grow so very quickly, they deform in the egg before hatching.

Thats too cute!!!

One of the boys in the brooder was doin the same thing, on the roost with his head tucked away. I couldn't tell at a glance... took a closer look and all I could see was a little bit of red comb

Amy, those hackles in your little girl could be some background booboo on the Del side, too. I culled two roos with columbian markings, and my Lizzie has a few in there that are suspicious.

Kathy, DID she come poop on you in the middle of the night?

Yes! Inquiring minds would like to know! Did little Miss Molty find you last night Kathy dearest??? *insert evil snicker here*

Beth, you may be right. Whatever the cause, she sure is coming out to be a very pretty little girl.

Naw, she didn't poop on me ..... not yet, anyway! I bribed her with treats.

Little Miss Floozy is going to be upset today though. We are putting netting over the Del pen, and she won't be able to do her daily exercises and escapes!
