Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Hi crazy lady, I don't know if it is too soon to tell, but your second roo looks like he has 5 points. Does anyone know if the ones they have when they are young like this are the ones they keep? Does a comb develop more points as it matures?

here is how you count https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=3140357#p3140357 and he is why I asked his blade has a nice point to it, but it is still just a blade. I am keeping an eye on the riples befor the points. I'm keeping a flock book, I'm trying to note changes as they grow, color/pattern change, size, and so on. I'm all so going to try to keep a blood line on them.

update on the lighter hen, she IS as big as my EE

do you think I've guessed the right ages for them?

There can be quite a size difference in siblings. It is hard for me to actually see their size. Ya kind of gotta be there!

But if she is as big as your EE and the EE is full grown and not a banty, then I would think she might be a bit older (?)
Are they all from the same hatch?

I will check tomorrow. Time for bed.

How old are they when you can count the points and know for certain that's what the adult roo will have? I know someone said it somewhere, but there are so many Del threads right now I'm all snarled up.

By 9 or 10 weeks old, it was clear how many points my cockerels were going to end up with. Sometimes, a small point rises up on the front later than you see the others. Gracie's comb at 15 weeks is still not large enough to tell for sure, but looks like it will be a good five-pointer. Girls take longer.

We should!! Those babies I hatched turned 4 weeks old today, and one of the Delawares that are actually pure is turning out to be a nice looking cockerel so far. Of course, hes only 4 weeks old

Plus, my Delaware cockerel that I'm keeping for future breeding is getting giant. Not in weight though
