Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

ummmm 11 week old Dellies LOVE waxworms! OMG I put the plate in the little coop with Fattie, Cannonball, Athena and Thor....Thor, Athena and Cannonball actually tagged me trying to get one, Fattie always tags me over food. Vicious over their worms.

Today was yogurt day here. Now that is always comical. I do mix it in with starter feed. As soon as I set down a couple plates of it, they act like they are starving .... eat as fast as they can .... then, (just like Thanksgiving) go take a nap! I love the yogurt sling that they do, and then cleaning it off the beak by brushing beak on the bedding. Aaahhh, yes, my little Dellies are very special ... they clean up their plate, and clean off their faces!

HA! Mine had to get a wash cloth bath after their yogurt excursion, they used each other to clean their beaks on...no more yogurt for the little ones. It was EVERYWHERE.

So, obviously your Dellies do the "yogurt sling," as well. I love it! Well, I did learn to mix it in with some feed now. Tomorrow is boiled eggs day. Geeez, they about chew my arm off getting to them!

ETA: What the heck are waxworms? I've never heard of them.

When I cannot get mealworms at Petsmart or other pet store, I get the wax worms...they are big fat white looking worms used for feeding to reptiles, fishing and etc etc. OMG they love em. Here is a pic of them http://www.the-lizard-lounge.com/content/gallery/insect-pictures/waxworm-pictures-1.asp

My
Dellies and the Orps (looking for speckledhen as those 4 came from her) are yogurt fools! They sling it, walk through it, stand i it, clean their beaks on the closest broodermate and they are just animals! Whenever they see the "treat plate" coming they get excited before I can get to them. Spoiled brats...all of them, even my four EE crosses.

YUCKY worms, but I'll see what the pet store has. . .
Kathyin mo and Cetawin: Uh, I am SO glad to know there is a name for the yogurt mud wrestling - and that mine aren't the only insane chickies!

Yes, Cetawin, I am a gonner- long gone!
Del-girl. . . .yeah, the cord. But its AFTER I hook it up that causes the problem. I have been known to shut down computers for days!

Speckledhen- update: Superchick is growing feathers and getting more brave about bounding in with the others - the other little chickie looks like the whole hock is out of joint. I have stretched it, but the whole leg sticks slightly out to the side almost like its from the hip. . . .the chick moves, eats, drinks, but limps slightly and rests the leg a lot-----

I know this is the Delaware thread, but Germaine wanted to see pics of Suede, so here's a link with a pic of the Suedenator. He's such a calm, sweet rooster.

Beth, not sure why there have been two chicks with hock issues in this batch. Very odd. I haven't seen that in the Dels before now. Maybe just a thing that pops up once in awhile. The breeders get the best nutrition. Dunno!

Suede is gorgeous and certainly welcome! My Baby Blue is his, right? And Baby Blue is living with Delawares. There. It's a connection!

Yeah, I am so proud of little Superchick!!!!
