Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Cetawin- Return of the King is my fav, too. But I like Karl Urban. . . .what a hottie! And I love Miranda Otto- even way back when, first reading the books in whatever single digit grade it was, I thought Eowin was a better match for Aragorn than Arwen - but let's get back to the important topic of Dellie mind control.
Is all that conferring why mine were shrieking in the middle of the night, which they have NOT done before? I went out to check, thinking maybe the brooder temp was TOO cooled down, and Buckshot gave me the big round eyed innocent look, and the rest of them were just staring off into corners. . . . .and Ultrasuede (attuned to his full sibs, I am sure) was all ruffled up. . . . .

Cetawin, exactly when are you moving? First of April? As in Easter/spring break? And do I remember correctly that you were looking somewhere outside of Lexington?(or did I dream that?) I do NOT envy you with the household minimizing- I downsized when I moved here, and then had to go through and get rid of more things when I got married so DH had space for some of his things (he was kind enough to move to where all my animals were already established).
All I can say is GOOD LUCK!

I hope you get a sunny day soon, so you can let those little terrors out. But unless it's freezing rain, I'd let them out in it for a while- I am always surprised at the neighbor's chickens, who don't seem to mind rain one little bit. And yours would have a warm, dry place to return to. . . .???

BTW, my brooder temp is down to the upper 50's and they all seem fine. . . . .

Rain... Moving... Gosh, sounds like a bunch of stress. Its just below freezing here today, and we separated the roosters from the hennies so we can choose who produces with whom. Gahlee! Those boys acted like I strangled them. I swear I saw thank you in the eyes of the hens today

Oh! And Legs, my 9-Point Delware Cockerel, crowed this morning (and his little 11 week old cousin crowed last night

) !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, back on subject. Cetawin, I hope you get things figured out

It sounds like if you have a few of us lined up, you may be able to get there without much stress. I would love to let my babies roam, but little Dingo and the hawk couple prevent me from doing so
smack.gif
Maybe Thor will forgive you if you give him applesauce, and he'll keep the others from getting revenge!! Oh yeah, and my birds LOVE the rain. I can't keep them in without locking them up

Kathy, they're angels now... but just wait, oh jeez, just wait!! They change! No, I'm just kidding. Some birds never hit a teenager stage

Like the rain? Mine do not....when it started raining on them yesterday it was like I was torturing them. My big girls go back in their coop before being wet enough to be seen in an undignified wet mess. Mine are having none of it.

joletabey - if they would stay in the rain a bit but they were not liking it at all...nope. They went back to their little coops with low watt heat lamp. They are spoiled rotten! Buckshot has been calling here too I think Fattie has a thing for Buckshot.

I have taken to hiding the phones and locking the doors at night.,,,just to keep them from the phone. Have to or they will be call the SPCA on me because I am being a bad mom and never letting them go outside.

OOH-OOH - Fattie and Buckshot- that could be something! Their babies would probably become the first Delawares in space. The Whitehouse Delawares. American Idol winners. Stars of Dancing with the Delawares. . . . I better get sewing on those flags!

Delgirl, I can imagine you have some hens a bit relieved- the roos are get rowdy here, too, and my littlest hen seems to always be on the bottom during leap frog- poor thing. But congrats on your crowers- it's a sort of coming of age ceremony, isn't it?

It is COLD here, and I can't get the brooder higher 50 degrees- I have piled blankets like mad. So far everyone is fine, but tonight may be the night I crack open the hand warmer packs. the wind is just bitter! We have had warm oatmeal, banana and hardboiled egg, but I feel like every time I open it I am taking a step backward in the warmth department, so 5:00 feeding time might be the last till tomorrow morning!

Whew! They are outside...for how long is anyone's guess. The weather is threatening rain at any second. DD decided to carry them out just in case they tried to jump me...

and so I could get pics of them. So here they are...

Severus (he goes with me for sure - he and Thor are absolutely wonderful)

Everyone (Notice Thor is watching Draco and contemplating tagging him on the top of the head while he eats....Thor's memory is long and he still wants a piece of Draco...gotta watch those two for sure)

They dumped over the food...so, I refilled it and they ran to it, leaving the fresh food they spilled for them to walk all in I guess. well I have convinced DH that taking only 12 is out of the question that a minimum of 20 is the best I can do for him
lol.png
So, he has submitted to mine and the Dellie mind control (I had Fattie and Cannonball working on him) and he says I can take 20 chickens and 9 or 10 ducks. I have three extra drakes anyway so I am going to rehome 2 of them. They go with the coop which I am giving to a friend of mine who has duckies. hahaha He wants the coop which is fine with me BUT he takes the two ducks in it. Blackmail? Maybe Coercion? Absolutely!

Joletabey, I think Washington should fear the Coming of Buckshot and Fattie....if they know what is good for them, they will fear that day!

PS: In the picture of Severus, you will see one of my 4 x 4 tractors in the background....I am going to make those with floors of course, as transportation crates for them. If need be, depending on the weather then, I can enclose three sides if needed. That is the plan at this moment. Husband and I are going onday to Penske to check out the trucks and trailers and so forth...then I will have a better idea.

Yes she is but she still has no real tail black but that's okay. Man she was screaming to beat the band when she came out first without Fattie and Thor... she wants them both with her constantly or else! Small but loud when she wants to be. Notice too that she is catching up in size with Fattie, I really need a new name for her but she answers to it so it may have to stay. hahahaha

I just noticed looking at the pics again that Fattie still has some baked squash stain on her right chest area. hahahaha she was covered it in a few days ago.

Severus is a beauty and I see why you want to keep him- wow!!!
I do love Fattie and Cannonball- Buckshot says they deserve a Dellie Roo, though.
AND speaking of roos, I just took a really good look at Thor and Athena in those shots-specifically their combs - and compared them to Ultrasuede. I think Ultrasuede is a roo- his comb looks just like Thor's, and Athena barely has one- considering they are so closely related, I am now convinced I have a son of Suede!!!

Quote:
I agree they need a roo....I am going to go to GA and Steal Ike then I do not have to worry about incubating, raising and getting a nasty tempered one or something...I will have a good one right off the bat
gig.gif

If Ultrasuede has a noticeable comb I would bet son too. Athena still barely has anything raised on hers. Is Ultrasuede feathering slower because that is another sign of a male according to Cyn...Thor feathered slower than everyone! As for Severus...he is a sweetie pie his daddy is my EE roo and his mom is one of my BAs so he is so uniquely colored I love it. Even Draco who looked like a blue EE now has pale markings and he is going to be a good one to because he will carry the feather footed gene from his Mama most likely, she is my splash cochin who will be in Thor's harem when he grows up to be a big boy.

Cannonball is Cannonball Cyn...she is beautiful anyway

You know me...I could care less about SOP and junk. They are my babies period.
