Yard full o' rocks :

Kathy....you won't believe it, but I have Light Brahmas in the bator!!!! I got 15 eggs from a breeder in Western TN, today is day 3 for them. I'll look up his info tomorrow and send it to you. Wish you were closer or were making a trip "down south" as I will have NO NEED for 15 Lt Brahma babies. I am actually growing to grow out another Lt Brahma roo for my Columbian Rock project....can you say "road trip"???!!!!

You think I haven't thought of that? Oh, yes ..... one of these days! It's only like a 12 hour drive .... piece of cake! (I'm 760 miles from Atlanta, GA .....) Since all you people in Georgia have all the goods ..... guess I will just have to take a tour of Poultry Capital, USA!

Does it make sense that my hens are laying so much better since I have gotten rid of all but one rooster? I guess the high Roo-Hen ratio was stressing them out. I went from 1-2 eggs every 3 days or so to 3-5 eggs almost every day since the morning they were gone. I'd like to blame it on the crazy weather (warm/cold/warm/cold) but it seems too much of a coincidence.

SawsAll seems to have something wrong with her right eye or her neck. She seems to favor tilting her head to the side and keeping that eye to the ground. I don't think she has any trouble seeing, and she can certainly straighten her neck out..but she seems to rest with it always to that side. When she is just standing there, it's always tilted so that eye is toward the ground.

It's picture day...so here are the pics.

SawsAll born on Jan 20th about 10pm.....

What do you think of her eye here?

And Pebbles/Bam Bam (White Java). I'm leaning towards Bam Bam. Thick legs, Rooster posture...and some early comb Development. Born on January 7th. Also very protective of SawsAll, so is either a very young "Mama" or is definitely a Roo...

aaaaawwwwww Sawzall is a pretty thing thing....I wish I knew what to say about the eye and the neck. If there is a problem with that eye, that could be why she tilts her head, trying to see clearer or protective of it. They can do funny things when eyesight is impaired. They do not have great sight to begin with.

Scott say: "See what Cyn started?????....all I wanted was a "couple of chickens""

OMG at the accusatory finger you are pointing to cover your own weakness for fuzzybutts....for shame on you Mr. Yard Full of It.

Scott tried selling me on his blue Rocks, too.......hmmmm....O well,I guess he just wants the world to be as happy as he is. Or as addicted so he doesn't feel alone.

Laney, what a pair of cuties - it does look like Mr. Roo protecting his girl. I know nothing about the eye thing, but I agree with Cetawin that maybe it is a way of seeing her world better.

How is Isaac? Are his women picking at his comb and wattles again? I do not trust those mean women with that sweet boy.

Oh funny Roo story...my little baby boy, Thor decided to to try to dance for me this morning when I was reaching in to get him out of the coop....and just as soon as he started he got this look on his face that screamed "What am I doing...that's mom" and he immediately stopped dancing and walked over to me, pushed his chest out for a rub and said "brrruuuuuuuurrrrrr".

Poor boy got all excited and then realized I am not the one to dance for....he did dance for Cannonball a bit later...it was so cute.
