How precious they are! Ya gotta love those runts. My runt Dellie is a mess! Cannonball was tiny at hatch and has been a real joy, pleasure, pain and love rolled into one.
Beth - Thank you. I do understand how attached you can get to them. I so love my Dellies and my Suede babies. The Delaware are just amazing chicks truly they are. they are so curious, brave, friendly and active....very mouthy too, they must taste everything! I really love that about them, they are so different from most chicks. Do check out pics of The Suedenator and you will see he has very light soft eyes...I just love them. When I was beading Suede, doing the eye was painstaking because I wanted it to look soft like his. I SWEAR I WILL FINISH THE PROJECT FOR CYN. I will finish it as soon as I get unpacked...then I can hand deliver it, play with Suede, Steal him, Steal Ike, Steal Zane, Steal Nora, steal Shadow, Steal Miranda and and and and
Kathy - Thank you, I still miss my growling chicken every day. She was such a love. The ChiChi taught her how to growl and she had a deep voice so it was hysterical when she wanted attention she would growl at you.
What a day I've had! No time to see my babies at all. I did however, get to attend my daughters 4H poultry judging class. It was just the preliminary class, but I did get the teacher to allow me to sit in on the course! How bad am I? I just couldn't pass up the opportunity.
I asked him where a grownup could learn all of this, and he told me "right here!". So here I go, I'll pass along any secrets I learn! I'm hoping to sneak a few of my birds into the class as "samples" for them to judge. It will be good to have a judges eye go over them, even if I hear bad things back, it will tell me from a judges prospective what to work on.
Laney- how fun! And do pass on what you learn- I sure would appreciate it.
Cynthia, I am glad you just have rain. It is now freezing sleet/ice here and I am wondering if I should even try to get down my driveway and go to work. Rats!
I am waiting for this 20 week molt- only 8 more to go! Although I have noticed there a lots of feathers in the coop all the time, so maybe they working on losing that smut NOW.
Lisa, those pics are precious- I love baby pics - you have some cuties!
I'll do the eye color check today with Ultrasuede and Suede's pictures. Everyone stays in today.
Oh my, I heard that on the weather. YUKKY winter weather. You guys need to move away from it! LOL
We moved 300 miles south (from Iowa to Missouri), to enjoy better weather. So, I really can't complain too much. I do NOT miss that awful snow! We get a little bit here, but not much usually. Last week was out of the ordinary, and it is about gone.
My DH and I would have been rolling in the snow if it hadn't been raining. As we headed out this morning, we could hear the kazoo chorus - err err ROOO? err err ROOO?? coming from the coop- it's hysterical because of the question mark on the end- like they don't know for sure if they are pronouncing their little crow correctly
Those precious baby crows Beth...cannot be beat. Love em! I like the way Severus wheezes at the end of his.
You must record the baby crows so you can play it back to them when they are better. Be careful out there today on those roads lady.
Well it is only "mostly cloudy" here today and then 4 more days of rain...so I am about to take everyone outside. Poor babies have been inside so much.
TOO CUTE! Cannonball has to keep up her Delaware outline! I have to try something green soon - I have some spinach I could chop up- those are great pics Cetawin! It may actually be dry for a bit tomorrow afternoon and Sunday- Glad you and your babies got some sun!
