Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Scott,

Grown men cry. In fact, I have more respect for men who cry when it's called for then men who hold it all in and never show any emotion.
Sweet Pea is in a better place now. You showed her your love in everything you did, even to the last.

I think those EE's will cheer you up for sure. Only thing better might be some Java's or Marans (there is no smilie for evil grinning)

Now let's all stand together and affirm..."I am not addicted to Delawares, nor am I addicted to hatching chickens. I simply enjoy my hobby. I can stop anytime I want to, I swear. But seriously, why would anyone want to?"

SDWD will conquer the world!

It's for sale for $259 at http://www.jmtdistributors.com/rcom-suro-20-n20.html

and
$249 at Kemps Koops http://www.birdhatcher.com/

I
bought it for $249 at JMT, but they must have just raised their price... I paid about $31 in shipping.

It fits 24 regular sized chicken eggs, not a single egg more, believe me I spent 45 minutes today trying every possible configuration of eggs to try it. It comes with the turner and humidity regulator (but not the bottle...I'm using an old spaghetti jar, prego brand if you must know) So if you don't use the turner then it would be a great hatcher.

It would be an expensive hatcher, but worth it for the humidity regulation I think...because I think that's when most folks have the most trouble. If you were hatching bantam eggs you could fit more than 24.... Considering that the cheapest you can get the Brinsea for with all those options is about $419 without shipping.....it's a pretty good deal. I think it's because this incubator is less than a year on the market and needs to get word of mouth going. I've started a hatching thread and will keep everyone up to date.

Yes Kathy, it is big enough to hatch 2 Dozen. But that's it. The thing I'm drooling over now though, are R-com's brooders... yup, they are starting a line of brooders and emergency habitats for birds and other pets. But they are in the $5-700 range...and that is too sweet for my blood when it comes to a place to keep one sick bird.

I am eating the yummiest home made soup right now. It is ginger-garlic soup broth with mushrooms and shrimp in it. PM me for the recipe if anyone wants it, it is simple as pie. I made it with home made chicken stock and I am in heaven right now. It's one of those soups that has like 5 or 6 ingredients total.....No salt, and about 39 calories per serving if you don't add in anything like the mushrooms and shrimp.

I know it was hard. You did the right thing for her and I am proud of you...you big ole softee.

There is no shame in crying, especially over the loss of a feathered friend. Just shows us what we already knew...you are a good person! Tomorrow I shall make a marker for Sweet Pea and put it right next to Superchick's under the madrone tree. Isn't Tom just wonderful? I know he thinks I am nuts sometimes but he is a great guy for sure...just as his wife is a wonderful lady.

Cyn, I sure hope trimming those meanie's beak tips helps...I just wonder with their persistence and habit now, if that will stop them.

For Isaac's sake...I mean he certainly would not be mistreated living with me but I know his mama loves him tons. Not to mention he loves his mama too. Keep us posted on that will you?

Whew 8 birds done and only 12 (or more if I can sneak them in the truck) to go and 9 ducks. Poor Dr. R may not be so thrilled to come out again after Fattie tried to remove his hand...the little cute pitbull that she is *sigh*...I may have to triple is $25 house call fee to get him to come back.

I took peace offerings out...two big pans of scrambled egg surprise (ie: scrambled eggs, steamed rice, cooked green beans, oatmeal, applesauce and whatever else I have around at the time). Thor has forgiven me he gave me a big ole' deep bruuuurrrrr but when I went to pat him he ducked down and pancaked himself to floor and gave me stinkeye....he did accepted a chest rub though. The Dellies are over it...they both jumped me as soon as the door opened...friendly jumps and Athena ran from me with a look on her face like she had seen Satan himself. *sigh* Orp girls are just blah. The EEs are over it and only wanted their treat.

I grabbed up the Dellies and they are getting bigger in the keel area but their butts are still bigger than the rest of them

I cannot wait to see what happens with this testing on those two....it shall be interesting to say the least.

Kathy - I gave Dr. R your info, he said he would call if he needs more stuff, however he is in the final stages of it now so who knows.

I did ask him to send you a copy of the paper once it is published.

I got two Delaware pullets lost in the mail. They were supposed to arrive today by 3pm. No show.

How incompetent is the USPS if they can't get an Express package from Gainesville, FL to the Atlanta, Ga area in less than 3 days?? I could almost walk there in that amount of time.

I am so bummed out, they are probably dead, or going to die. I put oranges in the box with them, so I have a little hope. I can't express my anger in polite company. Rats.

High,

Do you have a tracking number? Any idea where they are? Oh my, I can't imagine how worried you must be. How old are the pullets? I hope the oranges do keep them going!

They were processed at Jacksonville Tuesday night, no updates since. I already called and started an investigation. We will at least get the shipping refunded, because it was guaranteed. I'd rather they had showed up on time, though.
