Cetawin- I'm sorry about your Thor! What nasty birds to beat up on him like that. Have you decided Draco's fate yet?

Cetawin- I'm sorry about your Thor! What nasty birds to beat up on him like that. Have you decided Draco's fate yet?

His fate will decided when I go to check food and water in a bit ... if he attacks my hand again like yesterday, his fate is sealed and I or DH shall take him to the stump. My daughter checks everyone in the morning before school making sure they have water and food. I check them again around 10:00 - 10:30 and take them outside if the weather has cleared. Draco went to her and she icked him right up...no bites not nothing. I reached over to pet him and he flared and lunged at me. So, I don't know, maybe he would be a good roo for someone else....but do I take that chance? Really not sure what to do.

Beth...yes I hate sneaky and that is what has upset me the most...if Thor had been hurt fighting I would be better about the whole thing...but to get blindsided from behind while dealing with someone in front of him...that ticked me off. I think had I not scooped him up, Draco would have been hurt by Thor...but what are ya gonna do? You see your baby bleeding and you react so I got Thor in the house.

Cyn, no bag balm here, after the bleeding stopped, I used a triple antibiotic ointment on it (without pain reliver). However, I will pick up some bag balm at the feed store today, she carries it with the equine supplies.

Cetawin- so what's the verdict? Have you gone back out?

And I know you all are probably sick of my very bad photos, but I tried really hard today, and I think I have better ones of the top three roos. There is a 4th roo that looks a LOT like the other three, but the front of his comb is weird and sort of bent. . . . . I concentrated on these three:

Wait, wait, forgot to upload AGAIN!!!! Will edit in a minute - three pictures of each of them:

ROO A

AND OF COURSE, A GUEST APPEARANCE BY ULTRASUEDE- he wouldn't come out, I ended up tricking him with food. . . . . can you see his comb and eye?

Beth,
I really think my # 1 roo is going to end up coming from group 2. I got alot of roos in that bunch, and several look really good, I think!

ETA: Oh, ok, now I see the pictures! Yes, those are good shots! You have a couple great choices there! Are you keeping only one roo? I like the first 2 the best.

Well, you said you went through about 16 or so, before you decided, right? I expected it would take at least that many to get where I want to be! I am setting Delaware eggs today, for an even larger pool to pick from!

I got Cyn's eggs today, as well as Delaware eggs from Claudia (allaboutdemchicks). If you recall, Claudia's stock also came from Janet. I am excited about another Delaware hatch! I love these Delawares, as does my family.

Beth, I went back and looked at those pictures. I'm not sure which one I would pick ..... I like all 3 of them!

Kathy, thanks - I do too for varying reasons. One has really dark tail barring, but I have a question, is there supposed to be ANY green sheen in the tail barring black? I never saw it in him before today, but the feathers that are black and charcoal have a green sheen to the black part. . . .?????

I am attached to these guys and really hope I can pick a good roo from the ones I have.

Anybody else want to comment on what they see?

I went to the feed store and she had sold her last bag balm this morning so I was going to pick some up tonight in grants pass at the co-op however, I was looking at my tube of Corona (infamous yellow with red lettering used for horses and cattle and humans) the contents are almost the same...what do you think? It is yellow but it works. Here are the contents:

Lanolin 50% Oxyquinoline 0.11%, Beeswax, Petroleum, Sodium Borate and Water and aromatics - I smelled it and it is not bad at all and would be on the back of his head area...it has no "caine" in it.

I had forgotten about that stuff and I used in my horses and dogs and such for years and keep it in the house for my cuts and so forth.

Edited to add:

Beth...Draco still lives, he was sweet as pie to me this morning. I ran into a lady whose husband is looking for roosters...he lost 20+ birds to predators until he figured how they were getting in and reinforced...now that nothing has gotten his remaining 8 in the last month, he is wanting to rebuild his flock so I gave her my number to call about Sirius and Draco...Julie at the feedstore told me that several people have commented on the flyer and the boys, taking my number with them...so hopefully they will have a new home soon.

I like your boys Beth, they look really good. Can I steal em? I could swing by there after I go steal Suede, Isaac and Zane from Cyn...ya know make it federal by stealing across state lines and transporting.

BTW Thor is just totally pathetic...he is crowing his heart out and wanting his girls. I gave him his scrambled eggs this morning and he would not eat them...he just kept going to the plate and clucking for his girls, going to the corner and calling them and back to cluck. I finally, took the plate out after he spent nearly an hour calling them to it. Poor baby. He has this howl in his crow naturally like his Daddy but it sounds soooooooooooo sad right now. The break point on the back of his comb is black today so i cannot put him with them yet. Poor boy. I need to go get him out and let him wander around the yard but I doubt he will do more than stand by the garage calling the girls.

Cyn - How is Shadow? I am praying for that swet little doll of a bird.

Beth, all the black parts of the sickles will have green sheen, that's just a good black, but they should all be barred even if it's faint.

Shadow's prolapse is still inside, but she hasn't laid an egg today and that will be the real test, poor little thing.

The Corona sounds okay, but how strong are the aromatics? Wonder what they are? Camphor maybe?
