Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Sydney13- get some, you won't regret it. Not only are they beautiful, but they are friendly, funny, and good dual purpose birds!

HighSpringsChix- they look lovely- your girls all look so sweet and CLEAN. Tarzan looks like he will have great tail barring. If Tarzan and Jane produce a superior roo for you, you HAVE to name him Boy, you know.

Kathy- how many do you have that bite hard? I only have problems with Luke- and he only goes for my hands. They pluck my clothing, but he is the only consistent biter.

Cynthia, all you can do is check this guy out to the best of your ability. If he is good to them, they will adapt and be happy fairly quickly. They have each other, too, so they won't be totally lost in the woods. Hugs for you and Tom, though. It's a hard thing to do- and how are the girls doing in with Dutch? Is he still keeping them in line?

I have 4 that are really really bad biters. They bite my legs, my hands, pull at my pants or any cloth they can tug on! They bite VERY hard, and I have been unable to stop them, so far. These are in the second group. The first group are the angels, no problems like that at all. Of course they are all the cull roos !

ETA: Beth, Has Cora given you another egg yet?

Kathy- no second egg - I have no idea how young pullets start out- are they usually sporadic for a while? I am sorry you have that many biters- it's really bugging me that I can't get Luke to quit, as he is my first pick at this point- the only one with black and WHITE tail barring- the others are black and charcoal. I should really stop the clothing pulling and pecking before it's summer- right now they can't do much to my sweats and jackets, but come summer and T shirt weather, it may be a different story!

Hey all, do any of your Dellies CHOOSE to sit in your lap? I have one that prefers it and finds a way to get there the minute I sit down in the run. She is a real cuddle bug. And several others that sit down on my legs or all around me- even some of the roos do this. DH says I am going to be the crazy old chicken lady pretty soon.

Oh yes, Beth .... In my first group, they are just the sweetest ever. I sit down, or even kneel, and they are right there on my legs! I do really love those guys. I just hate that they don't have the better type. No matter, I AM still keeping one of the roos that I especially love! I am thinking he can teach some manners to to group 2 !

I don't blame you, my favorite roo is NOT the best, but I want to keep him cuz he is a sweetie! Your first group are the ones slightly older than mine, right?

You know- I just realized I am going to HAVE to get an incubator. Or a silkie. How else am I going to breed my own replacements? Yikes!!!

Mine aren't to bitey. They nibble a bit, looking for treats, but they don't bite real hard. The one pullet that I had that bit hard got sold to James.

They are nice and clean in their new feather right now. If the show at the end of the month where closer, I might take one or two, just to see what it is like.

It's a 4 hour drive. I would have to drive down the night before to get there to register. Of course, it might be worth it to go see the entries. That's a lot of driving. I could just wait for the show next January in Lake City, and try to hit the local county fairs. I'll have to check dates so I can time some hatchings. The book I read showing your pullets right at the point of lay, before they get worn out from laying eggs. And while there feathers are fresh and beautiful.
