Cynthia, I voted. I loved many names, but could only choose one... We need a multi-select poll one of these days. That little baby is so cute, too, and beautiful! So Cetawin, your lucky to get little Rose

You know, the way Meg and Suede babies are turning out, I kinda wish I had some now
Joletabey, this summer will be a break for me. I get to have a part-time job and part-time chicken lover. I do fear, however, that after this summer I will have to dwindle my flock down to just a few, but maybe in the future I will be able to get more birds. I have two wyandottes from JamesA's BLRW flock. One is a splash and one is a black, and i'm 99% sure on the black. Its kind of sad because I wanted some BLRW, but these two babies are the cutest.
Laney, I'm sorry to hear about Biden. My Delaware rooster, Legs, flogged me several times for the first time today. I picked up #40 (it has become her name
) and she squacked a little, then he came a runnin', flogged her, then me. I told him he was butter on toast if he did it again and gave him a good kick in the rear. He came at me once more, but kept his feet firmly on the ground and then ran back to the girls. He will learn, or he will be Mothers Day dinner
Cetawin, I love the pictures of your ducks and chickens. I wish I still had my three hen ducks, but the winters are so bad if we get ice and I had no place to put them that was out of the cold. I was sad the day I sold those three girls. I will say though, duck eggs taste... odd to me.
Well, I have 12 Delaware babies from my own birds to see if Leg's parents might have influence. So far, there are a few chicks that look... okay. I have one solid white one, and it kind of makes me think it could be from Bologna's hens and not the Delawares. But I will find out soon. I have two Oreo daughters, crossses unfortunently, and one Hefner son left. They turn 7 weeks old tomorrow. They are cutest little buggers
We turned our winter coop into a mega brooder yesterday. The chicks love it!
Scott, I WISH I had a broody. I wouldnt give two cents for the incubator and hatcher I have. They cant hold temps worth the weather! I had a gold sex link charge me when I went for the eggs the other day, but after she laid her egg, she left the nest and begged to be let out of the pen
Silly hen.
ETS: I forgot to mention about the pet feeders. Cetawin, I think thats a great idea. I'm going to have to try that because these hanging feeders... I'm about ready to just through them away. The pins come out of the holes and the birds just knock them around and scratch all the feed out, even when it has a cover and its hanging the level of their backs!! I tried lifting it some and they acted like they couldnt reach it at all
Silly girls.
