You all are making me feel old, when I know I am not! I was thinking the other day that my DH is getting too old for me. He is getting closer to 60, and I was thinking of trading him in for two 30s.

On second thought, that would mean I would have to train them, wouldn't I ...... never mind, I got this old man trained pretty well.

A Dr. I used to work with said to me one time (when we had our first grandchild). The only bad thing about having a grandchild is ................... that means you are sleeping with a grandpa! Eewwwwweeeee ......

My 6 Delaware girls gave me 7 eggs yesterday. I am thinking that my younger pullet (#7) is laying, or one of the original girls laid 2 eggs in one day. It was not one of Miss Holly's eggs, because her color is darker than the peachy Dels.​

Kathy- Lizzie laid two eggs in one day a couple of weeks ago- I figured it was part of the "learning to get it right" process.

OMG Lady Hawk, it sounds like it is never dull at your new home... I would feel sorry for the dog but even little dogs can and will kill chickens.
I am so proud of your boys! And I know how you feel about the "noise" and "quiet" I have the same problem here and I am getting tired of heading out with the shotgun at dawn and late night because the chickens are going off. But you do what you have to do.

I had the same problems will almost all of my broodies. I don't know if they killed them on purpose, but almost everyone had most of their chicks die. So I have come to the conclussion that they get to hatch them out--and then they are mine.

Rwoman...I am so so proud of my boys. I felt sorry for the little toerag too when I saw Thor shaking him by the neck like a piece of lettuce.

Re my HS rival...yes I have a quick, biting wit. My father always said I cold tell someone to "go to Hell" and they would be packing and looking forward to the trip.

She hated me after we went to basketball tryouts and she did not make the team but little 5' 2" me made point guard. She always was a little snot rag and time has not changed that obviously. I often told her in HS to shut up because I refused to get into a battle of wits with someone so obviously disarmed.

But honestly I am a really sweetheart...
