Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Kathy I am so sorry. I know how you feel having lost Thor. And we lost the lone little duckie just a bit ago. The little one had a hard time hatching and has not been growing as s/he should..the past day or so little one was peeping constantly but eating, drinking and so forth.

Just a few minutes ago I sent Cheyenne upstairs for something and heard the same tearful "MOM" I heard when she found Thor...she was holding little duckie who had just died in her hand. *sigh*

So hard to explain to a child why little ones just sometimes do not make it. So she is in her room with her Milles on her bed playing. *sigh*

I am working on a surprise for someone and had hoped to have it accomplished this week but alas the wishes of others are causing a delay so it will be another week plus before I get it finished and delivered. But all will be well and will be completed. hehehehe

I'm so sorry about the poor little duckie. It's always a bummer when that happens.

I am sorry about little duckie, and for your birds, too, Kathy- this heat is brutal! I hope roo#2 pulls through!

I think my only advantage right now is that there is almost always a breeze where we live. A breeze in the shade helps.

Scott, what is Pedialyte? Or however you spelled it?

Totally non-Dellie related....I just walked outside to take leftover bread and tomatoes from lunch to the "brats" and there are 2 spotted fawns (probably just a few weeks old) bedded down in the wooded area beside our driveway. Maybe 30 yards from the garage door.

Gonna try to "sneak" back out and get a few pictures.....they are so cute

We have deer here, too. It is so funny that my neighbor boy goes (deer) hunting and comes home empty handed, and then sits on the deck and sees them in the back yard!

Scott, Was the mama there, or are they all alone?

Mama deer are like mama rabbits. They will leave the babies in an area alone (where she feels they are safe) and come back several times a day to feed them. I have seen her twice today. Once early this morning feeding out in the "food plot" and again later obviously "leading" the 2 little ones to where they are "parked" now

These little guys have been around for a few weeks. We usually see them a couple times a day, but never this close to the house.

As you all know, me and the boys are AVID deer hunters....but the little ones are certainly cute. BTW - I don't allow the boys to shoot ANYTHING here at the house....instead we drive 3 hours to the "huntin' club".....makes a lot of sense, huh??!!

ETS - Jennifer just hollered up here to say the "mama" just came and got the babies and they have moved off to wherever. She got a few pix though
