Another Isaac story: was going to fill a feeder in the main coop, but realized it was all powder in the bottom of the tray so decided to scoop it into a big dog bowl, take it to the house and make some "oatmeal" for them with water, some added cooked grits and vitamins. Was bent over, holding the bowl in my left hand, while trying to scoop out the powder with my right and Isaac comes to me, looks at me. I say, "Hi, Ike!". He keeps watching me, then he sticks his head under my crooked left arm to inspect what I'm doing in his feeder. Next, he realizes that DH has removed their waterer to refill it and he goes over to the bucket defroster where it sits and begins to tap on the bucket with his beak. Nothing gets past the Ike Inspection around here!
Later, at roost time, he decided he wanted to sleep in the older section rather than on the big main roost in the addition. He gets up on the top bar and settles down. I scratched his chest and am about to leave when my red headed Rita jumps up on the end of that roost bar next to Ike. He thunks her on the head and makes her leave so he can be on the end of the bar, right next to the door. Won't let her come back and sit there. I think he's still a bit upset by DH coming in before daybreak the other day and startling him so he's going to park himself right there to be sure nothing bad comes through that door.
