It really is - i sort of wanted to "test " her on her broodiness and my friends has more eggs than he knows what to do with - hens run with three roosters - so there ya go - LOL She is now a surrogate mom!
I do know that his hens are insanely broody as even in the cold two of his have tried and they do make good mothers

If only I lived closer, lol.

I am so excited to get some Delaware eggs from someone, I can hardly wait. I have a barnyard mix hen I created myself who is almost a year 9 Months old going broody on me... Problem is she doesnt seem to be sticking to the nest as much as she should.

Boy do I know about having crooked toes on chickens lol... One of my hens threw a whole line of them, and my incubator caused some problems for me too.

Speaking of old things (lol) I found an old picture of Hefner. Now, remember, he was not the greatest example, but not the worst... Well, almost the worst. But he was the best rooster I have ever owned. He was very good at watching hawks and keeping the girls alive and fed.

Ink-- Good luck with your broody!! The three broodies I had were crazy lol. One hen hatched one chick, and the other two hatched out six chicks together and it was strange.... Lol

Thanks! I really am in shock that she is broody - she is my most active and curious girl - the most shocking thing is that ADD hasnt kicked in and she isnt going stir crazy wanting to get up and explore as she usually does!

Ink, I know how you feel about her not getting up to explore. One of my hens did that to me constantly and it made me nervous wreck lol.
